What You'll Do
- Lead and grow a talented team of engineers focused on EBM process and materials, with a strong emphasis on coaching, mentorship, and career development.
- Own process parameter/theme configuration and material specifications for the electron beam process and system, from concept to production readiness.
- Define and evolve process control architecture and specifications for software simulation and machine control-with a focus on quality, stability, and speed.
- Champion customer success in aerospace and medical applications by continuously improving how customers use and scale EBM-turning insights from jet engine components and orthopaedic implant manufacturing into repeatable, validated outcomes.
- Partner across engineering to drive New Product Introduction (NPI), resource planning, and cross-functional execution that delivers on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
- Manage related R&D labs, equipment, and procedures to enable future capabilities, ensuring world-class lab safety, compliance, and readiness.
- Translate innovation to impact by optimizing EBM for outcomes that matter: weight reduction and thermal performance in engines to support fuel efficiency goals, and implant geometries that enhance patient function and comfort.
What You'll Bring
- Advanced degree (master's or PhD) in engineering physics, materials science or a related field.
- Track record of leading and developing engineering teams (5+ years), including hiring, coaching, and performance management in fast-paced, technical environments.
- Demonstrated success delivering technical innovations into product capabilities and customer applications-ideally including process and materials expertise applied to aerospace components (e.g., jet engine parts) and/or medical devices such as orthopaedic implants.
- Working knowledge of iterative engineering methods (lean, kanban, scrum) and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Clear, confident communications capabilities and the ability to build trust with customers and across internal teams.
Why Colibrium Additive, part of GE Aerospace
- Impact that matters: EBM breakthroughs you lead help reduce fuel burn and emissions through lighter, more efficient jet engine components-and help people regain mobility and live better through advanced orthopaedic implants with tailored porosity and patient-centric design.
- Collaboration: We work and win as one team, accountable to each other and our customers, and we are always finding a better way to improve and climb higher together.
- Leadership and growth: Lead a high-calibre team and shape technical strategy while building capability, culture, and career paths.
- Mission and culture: At GE Aerospace, we invent the future of flight and bring people home safely. Grounded in respect for people and a relentless commitment to Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
- FLIGHTDECK Operating System: We are committed to continuous improvement and our lean ways of working, empowering teams to learn fast, solve problems at the root, and deliver value.
Location
- Sweden-based role with close collaboration across our global Colibrium Additive and GE Aerospace engineering communities.
