Job Name : Borehole Reservoir Engineer

Job Summary : The Borehole Reservoir Engineer provides critical, high-level technical and operational support for wireline and Logging-While-Drilling (LWD) reservoir-focused activities. This role is essential for delivering high-quality reservoir data acquisition, analysis, and interpretation to our clients, with a strong focus on real-time decision-making during operations. The engineer will be responsible for supporting specialized services like formation pressure testing, downhole fluid analysis (DFA), fluid sampling, and advanced reservoir geomechanics testing. Furthermore, this role offers an opportunity to expand knowledge into related well-performance domains such as well testing and production logging.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Real-Time Operations Support (Wireline / LWD)
  • Formation Pretest & Pressure Analysis: Provide real-time support and quality control for formation pressure measurement operations (e.g., using modular formation dynamics testers). Analyze pressure gradients, mobility, and reservoir connectivity to guide successful data acquisition.
  • Downhole Fluid Analysis (DFA) & Sampling: Act as the technical expert for DFA interpretation, including real-time monitoring of fluid properties (e.g., GOR, fluid type, contamination) to optimize the collection of representative, high-quality downhole fluid samples.
  • Operational Optimization: Work closely with field engineers and clients to define, review, and execute optimized testing and sampling programs based on petrophysical and geological objectives.

2. Specialized Borehole Reservoir Analysis
  • Advanced Borehole Reservoir Analysis: Provide technical support and initial analysis for specialized tests like Stress Tests (e.g., minifrac, microfrac) and Vertical Interference Tests (VIT) to determine reservoir stress states, rock mechanics, and inter-layer communication.
  • Integrated Data Interpretation: Integrate borehole reservoir measurements (pressure, fluid data, stress) with other logging data (e.g., resistivity, porosity) to develop a comprehensive understanding of the reservoir.

3. Expanded Well-Performance Domain Support
  • Well Testing: Provide technical input and support for pressure transient analysis related to cased-hole and open-hole well tests, linking borehole data to dynamic reservoir parameters.

4. Documentation
  • Well Testing: Provide technical input and support for pressure transient analysis related to cased-hole and open-hole well tests, linking borehole data to dynamic reservoir parameters.

    Qualifications and Experience:
    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Reservoir Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
    • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience as a Reservoir Engineer, preferably with oilfield services provider or oil company.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and practical experience with wireline and/or LWD formation pressure testing and downhole fluid sampling/analysis (DFA).
    • Proficiency in reservoir engineering software and data analysis tools.
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, real-time operational environment.
    • Some experiences with well test design and interpretation principles.
