This Position reports to:
Strategic Sourcing Manager

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will be primarily responsible for motors and generators, for securing competitive availability, cost, and quality within your category. You will work in close cooperation with suppliers, SCM colleagues and internal stakeholders such as Sales, R&D and Operations to ensure optimal supplier performance and continuous improvement.

This position is part of the Marine Systems Business Line global sourcing team, covering factories and suppliers worldwide. As Global Category Manager, you will lead the development and execution of the category strategy and, based on that, select, evaluate, develop and, when needed, exit suppliers. You will also hold commercial responsibility for supplier contracts and manage both long-term and short-term supplier cooperation, with the key objective of ensuring high performance in terms of cost competitiveness, availability, and quality.

This role is contributing to the ABB Division Marine & Ports, Marine Systems Business Line.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Driving the long- and short-term development of the supply network for your assigned categories. Negotiating and agreeing on supply contracts, ensuring competitive cost, terms, and effective risk mitigation.
• Managing and developing supplier relationships to drive performance, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Monitoring and managing supplier performance in quality, delivery reliability, cost, and responsiveness, and initiating corrective actions when needed.
• Collaborating closely with suppliers, SCM colleagues and internal stakeholders (e.g. Sales, R&D, Operations, Quality) to secure availability and support new product and technology introductions. Reporting and presenting category performance in internal forums.
• Ensuring compliance wit ABB policies, standards, and sustainability requirements in all sourcing activities.

Position requires travelling 20-30 %.

Qualifications for the role

• Proven track record in achieving key targets related to supplier performance in terms of cost competitiveness, availability, and quality.
• Solid experience in the full scope of commercial responsibilities, including contract negotiations, commercial risk assessment, and analyzing of supplier agreements.
• Strong ownership mindset with ability to innovate, drive improvements, and proactively bring new solutions to the table.
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate, develop and when needed, de-source suppliers based on performance and business needs.
• Bachelor's or Master's of Science in Technology.
• 3 years of experience in strategic sourcing or category management preferably with motors and generators or closely related product areas.
• Experience from working in an international, cross-functional environment.
