Your Role and Responsibilities
We are now looking for 2 Operative Quality Engineers to join our team at the IEC LV Motors factory in Vaasa. The main task for both is to be an active and co-operative driver between production and other departments to ensure continuous quality development. The key target is to ensure high quality performance of the final product. The roles will also include training production staff on quality standards, inspection techniques, and safe handling of components while ensuring compliance with ABB's Quality Management Systems and relevant safety and regulatory requirements.
Collaboration with production, engineering, and cross-functional teams is essential to drive a culture of excellence, safety, and continuous improvement. This will be, for example, collaborating with engineering on process improvements, new tooling validation, and introduction of new products.
Depending on your background, your role may have specific focus areas, for example in components manufacturing or on our production lines. In the Quality & Continuous Improvement team, you will play a central role in ensuring that punched, notched, and turned components meet the highest standards of quality, dimensional accuracy, and customer satisfaction. You will oversee quality control throughout all stages of production, with a focus on metalworking processes.
The work model for this role is: #Li-onsite. Note that the role requires everyday presence on-location to ensure operational continuity and collaboration with the factory.

You will mainly be responsible for:
- Developing, implementing, and executing inspection and test protocols for punching, notching, turning, and other manufacturing operations, ensuring compliance with technical drawings, customer requirements, and industry standards
- Overseeing in-process and final inspections of components, including dimensional checks (e.g., hole diameters, slot dimensions, burr height, surface finish, concentricity, and tolerances) and visual inspections for defects
- Monitoring and maintaining quality records for each batch, ensuring traceability of materials, tools, and operators
- Analyzing quality data, identifying root causes of non-conformances, and implementing corrective and preventive actions
- Supporting process capability studies, tool condition monitoring, and calibration of measurement equipment
- Escalating critical quality or safety issues and participating in internal and external audits
Qualifications for the Role
- BSc or MSc level degree from a relevant technical field
- Experience in quality control, assurance, or continuous improvement within metal components manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of technical drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and relevant quality standards
- Ability to develop and execute test protocols and analyze quality data
- Proficiency in using precision measurement tools and inspection equipment
- Knowledge of process capability, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action methodologies
- Excellent communication and training skills; ability to promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement
- Customer-focused mindset with the ability to evaluate issues from multiple stakeholder perspectives in a proactive, detail-oriented manner
- Fluency in Finnish and good English skills, both written and spoken
