Context & Environment

The Company is responsible for the Group's natural gas, power, LNG, ethane, petcoke, and sulphur trading and marketing activities in North America. Its scope of operations includes:
  • Purchasing wellhead, pipeline, and imported/exported natural gas, as well as regasified LNG produced or owned by the Group or sourced from non-affiliated suppliers
  • Marketing and selling natural gas, ethane, petcoke, and sulphur supplies to utilities, power plants, and other wholesale customers
  • Managing LNG regasification and liquefaction terminal capacity, along with natural gas storage and transportation capacity, to secure and optimize flows in North American markets
  • Conducting wholesale physical and financial trading of natural gas, LNG, and power to optimize the Company's portfolios through arbitrage, balancing, and hedging transactions
  • Overseeing potential market and counterparty risks

This position requires strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret financial statements, assess credit exposure, and implement risk mitigation strategies. Success also demands excellent organizational abilities and the capacity to thrive in a fast-paced trading environment.

Activities

The role involves ensuring the completion of all annual credit reviews and working closely with the Senior Credit Manager and Senior Credit Analyst to manage all credit-related support tools, including letters of credit, parent company guarantees, collateral, prepayments, margin activity, and collateral deposits/postings. It also requires enforcing credit policies and limits to ensure trading activities operate within defined risk tolerances, which includes issuing daily exposure reports and monitoring overexposures or credit breaches. Additional responsibilities include analyzing financial statements and interpreting various industry documents such as NAESB, ISDA, and EEI agreements that contain credit parameters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct detailed credit analyses of customers, their guarantors, and parent companies, including narrative write-ups and financial statement reviews; provide recommendations on credit lines, tenors, and security to management under the guidance of the Senior Credit Manager.
  • Manage daily margin calls by issuing outgoing requests, responding to incoming calls, and authorizing receipts and payments in the Book and through CubeLogic.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Credit Analyst to review and issue daily credit exposure reports, monitor new overexposures or breaches, and prepare periodic overexposure reports.
  • Support contract negotiations by reviewing credit clauses and payment terms as directed by the Senior Credit Manager.
  • Draft and maintain credit procedures as assigned by management.
  • Participate in monthly credit meetings with trading affiliates across the group.
  • Assist the Senior Credit Analyst in backing up the Senior Credit Manager on parental guaranty reporting and control processes; act as liaison between the Legal department and counterparties to issue parental guaranties and letters of credit supporting TGPNA credit lines.
  • Develop ad hoc reports and analyses to evaluate and present credit risks and exposures.
  • Contribute to the testing and implementation of new credit system processes, features, and efficiencies.
  • Undertake special projects as assigned by management.

  • Annual turnover (gross revenue) of approximately USD 3.0 billion
  • 130 outgoing parental guarantees totaling USD 4.2 billion, plus uncapped amounts
  • Established credit lines of USD 1 billion across 430 counterparties

Candidate Profile

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, or another business-related field
  • 1-3 years of prior experience in credit analysis or financial roles, preferably within a natural gas trading and marketing organization
  • Familiarity with letters of credit and trade financing tools and solutions is preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with CubeLogic - RiskCubed is a plus
  • Strong organizational skills, with expertise in data management, data manipulation, and analytical problem-solving
