HSE Site Manager
- Do you have a background of working within Resource Infrastructure projects, with familiarity of compiling and executing HSE and emergency plans to projects?
We are looking for an HSE Manager to join our site-based team in South Australia supporting a key resources project on a 12 month contract.
Summary:
Reporting to the Project Director the HSE Site Manager will be responsible for HSE management of site activities overseeing construction works. Establishing and implementing appropriate tools and processes to establish effective safety management processes on site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) function for all site ‑ based construction activities.
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust HSE management systems, tools, and processes to ensure consistent and effective safety practices across the project.
- Oversee and monitor day ‑ to ‑ day site operations to ensure compliance with project HSE requirements, legislation, standards, and best practice.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and support to site personnel and subcontractors to promote a strong safety culture and safe work behaviours.
- Conduct regular HSE inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and drive continual improvement.
- Lead incident investigations, ensuring root ‑ cause analysis is completed and corrective actions are implemented effectively.
- Prepare and present HSE performance reports to the Project Director and project leadership team.
- Coordinate HSE training, inductions, and awareness programs to ensure all personnel are competent and informed.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders, contractors, and external regulatory bodies to ensure alignment on HSE expectations and compliance requirements.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance health, safety, and environmental outcomes throughout the construction lifecycle.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Tertiary qualification in HSSE, minimum Diploma
- Minimum of 15 years' experience, within an engineering or construction environment
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in HSE Management including working with senior management delivering HSSE programs business wide.
- Solid industry experience operating as part of a leadership team;
- Drive, diplomacy, strong influencing skills & ability to multi-task;
- Strong understanding of safety standards and regulations.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills and the ability to interpret information to diverse audiences.
- Ability to provide appropriate advice and coach management in difficult situations;
- Candidates must be South Australia based initially required to work 10.5 hours per day, Monday - Friday initially for 3 months then reverting to roster (1 week on and 2 weeks off).
