Your role and responsibilities

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Chapter Leader to join our Firmware Department in Protection & Switching Agile Unit, ELSP. The candidate will be responsible for leading teams in a multicultural environment across countries, driving technical excellence, and fostering a culture of innovation. This role will involve collaboration with cross-functional teams to develop and implement firmware solutions in low voltage devices, such as breakers and transfer switches.

The work model for the role is: hybrid.

This role is contributing to the Electrification Smart Power globally.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor a team of firmware engineers in a multicultural environment, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
• Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to inform strategic decisions and to ensure required skills are developed.
• Align the development framework with current and upcoming standards and regulations, often aiming at specific certifications.
• Drive best practices in firmware development, including coding standards, documentation, and testing methodologies.
• Ensure code quality expertise, including static code analysis and code reviews, is applied to maintain high standards in firmware development.
• Be part of a broader community of Chapter Leaders within ABB Electrification Business to share knowledge, best practices, and foster collaboration.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the team.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science , Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience in firmware development, with a strong understanding of embedded systems.
• People management experience, demonstrating the ability to manage, develop and inspire team.
• Familiarity with GIT and DevOps practices.
• Familiarity with communication protocols.
• Proficient in programming languages such as C, C++, and Python.
• Expertise in code quality practices, including static code analysis and code reviews.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
