Job Description

Due to expansion of the team, the Environment and Sustainability Team currently has a vacancy for a Sustainability Study Manager; a role which combines the delivery of sustainability studies and advisory services to our clients along with line management responsibilities.

The role requires knowledge and experience of sustainability management topicsincluding development of sustainability strategies and application of ESG frameworks.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing workload and resourcing in relation to a team of environmental and sustainability professionals whilst continuing to work on projects to further their own technical development.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will work as part of the highly skilled Environmental & Sustainability Delivery Team within Genesis, supporting a wide range of clients on varied and interesting scopes of work.

Knowledge of sustainability frameworks and management approaches, combined with prior experience of the application of these ideally in a consulting setting, is essential.

The role combines three elements across client engagement, project delivery and tendering and line management.

Client Engagement and Tendering

  • Engaging with clients to determine their requirements


  • Proposal input and preparation; and


  • Identification of new markets and service offerings related to sustainability advisory services.


Project Delivery

  • Project Management: Leading and managing projects related to sustainability and ESG from inception to completion, acting as the main contact on technical and commercial matters, and overseeing resources and budgets;


  • Conduct Sustainability Assessments: Evaluate an organisations current practices, policies, and impacts to identify areas for improvement;


  • Develop Sustainability Strategies: Create tailored action plans that align with the organisations goals and regulatory requirements;


  • Advise on Sustainable Practices: Provide guidance on sustainable technologies, practices, and compliance with environmental legislation to enhance overall performance.


Line Management

  • Liaison with Environmental & Sustainability Delivery Manager and other Environmental Study Managers to coordinate allocation of appropriate personnel across a range of projects (accounting for existing skills and learning opportunities);


  • Providing leadership and line reporting to a team of environmental and sustainability consultants, engineers and scientists.


  • Development and retention of talent within their team; motivating team members to meet personal and business targets


Required Skills and Experience

The successful applicant must:

  • Have a degree in a relevant subject;


  • Have knowledge of relevant frameworks, legislation and standards;


  • Have project management experience on small to medium projects;


  • Have experience in client relationship building;


  • Be a strong team player;


  • Be well-motivated and able to work to tight deadlines;


  • Have excellent written skills with attention to detail.
