Job Description

Project Director

Location - Toronto, Canada

Overview

  • Successfully deliver the project as per agreed targets, e.g., program, budget, and quality.
  • Identifying and agreeing project objectives with the client and developing a strategy for achieving these.
  • Setting objectives, and defining tasks for the project team, delegating authority and agreeing with the project director how risks will be shared as necessary.
  • Actively managing the project - both technically and financially, in accordance with corporate and business policies, directives, guidance and procedures.
  • Identifying, escalating, and managing any matters that could pose a potential contractual/commercial risk
  • Manage projects strategically while understanding financial impacts, risks and opportunities.
  • Facilitating communication, co-ordination and information flow with the Client and within the project team, including any subcontractors and partners (internal and external);
  • Assembling and owning the project delivery program and delivery plans; providing project reports on a regular basis to convey cost and schedule information in a timely manner
  • Protecting the commercial interest of the project.
  • Preparation of proposal submissions
  • Preparation of all technical documentation required for the execution of the project (Technical studies, Design basis, Conceptual Designs, Detailed designs, technical specifications, Field work, Tender Phase services, Construction Phase Services and Record drawings)
  • Establishing and maintaining a climate favorable to the application of ethical and professional practices in the execution of engineering work
  • Ability to recruit the right talent for the project's needs. Act as a leader and a team player who is decisive, fair minded and collaborative with a true concern for the wellness of people.
  • Build strong employee culture and engagement by developing and leading action planning and improvement initiatives


About you

  • Must have University degree and/or MBA in Engineering, Business or related discipline.
  • Minimum 20 years relevant experience, in a large corporate environment with preference given to professional services environments.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • A track record of successful management of large-scale projects, EPC or EPCM projects with appropriate references.
  • Strong knowledge of mining industry
  • Significant experience of managing multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Effective in problem solving and managing conflict situations.
  • Self-directed and self-motivated
  • Identify, communicate, and manage change effectively and on the appropriate level.
  • Proven track record of effective teamwork, organizational development and leadership.
  • Open to travel to meet the client's requirements
