Weatherford is seeking an experienced Quality Control Manager to support our manufacturing operations in Gujarat, India. This critical role is responsible for ensuring robust quality control systems across the manufacture of oil & gas well completion and construction tools.
Reporting to the Quality Director, the Quality Control Manager will provide hands-on technical leadership, ensure compliance with API Q1 and applicable API product standards, and act as a key interface during audits, inspections, and customer engagements. The role plays a vital part in maintaining product integrity, audit readiness, and continuous improvement across the facility.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead quality control activities across manufacturing operations in alignment with API Q1 and applicable API standards.
• Act as technical authority for inspection methods, measurement systems, GD&T interpretation, and acceptance criteria for complex machined components and assemblies.
• Develop, implement, and maintain inspection plans, quality procedures, and technical work instructions to support consistent and compliant production.
• Support and lead Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), customer inspections, and regulatory audits.
• Interface directly with third-party inspectors, licensors, and external auditors, including premium thread auditors where applicable.
• Drive hands-on root cause analysis and corrective actions for non-conformances, quality escapes, and inspection failures.
• Train, qualify, and mentor QC inspectors on inspection techniques, instrumentation, and applicable standards.
• Ensure calibration systems, traceability, and accreditation requirements are maintained and audit-ready at all times.
• Collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to support continuous improvement and supplier quality activities.
Qualifications
• Engineering or technical degree with 7+ years' experience across quality control roles in manufacturing environments.
• Strong experience in oil & gas or heavy industrial manufacturing preferred, particularly well completion and construction tools and complex mechanical assemblies.
• In-depth, hands-on experience with API Q1 and working knowledge of API 5B, API 7-2, API 11D1, API 14A, API 14L, API 19AC, API 19V, and API 19G (G1, G2, G3).
• API Q1 10th Edition Practitioner certification preferred.
• ASNT Level II certification (current or expired) in UT, RT, MT, PT, VI, and UT wall thickness gauge preferred.
• Strong expertise in premium thread systems (VAM, Tenaris, JFE) and associated processes including coating, plating, and make-up/torque procedures.
• Proven hands-on experience with advanced inspection techniques, precision measurement instruments, and automated/semi-automated measurement systems.
• Deep understanding of machining, heat treatment, coating, and plating processes with general knowledge of CNC programming and machine operations.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and interface confidently with auditors, inspectors, and customers.
• Willing to work hands-on at shop-floor level and based in Gujarat, India. Legally authorized to work in India.
