Overview

We are seeking a Safeguards and Security Specialist Energy, to join our team in Oak Ridge, TN.

Your role

• Seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Security Specialist to safeguard our organization's assets, data, and operations.
• This role is critical in identifying vulnerabilities, implementing protective measures, and ensuring compliance with federal and corporate security policies and regulations.
• The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of security protocols, and the ability to respond swiftly to potential threats.
• Qualified candidates must be able to develop and support implementation of security plans, procedures, and governing documents as applicable with the company's Special Security Agreement (SSA).
• The selected candidate must be capable of interpreting and applying Department of Energy (DOE) Orders and Directives, as well as other pertinent U.S. Government security requirements.
• Develops and implements security plans, procedures, and training in accordance with applicable security requirements.
• Provides technical editing of documents and live training presentations.
• Supports security assessments, as required or directed by department management.
• Serves as point-of-contact for e-FOCI system and notifying NNSA/DOE via the system of any changes that could affect the company's foreign ownership, control or influence (FOCI) status.
• Administers and monitors physical access control operations for multiple office locations.
• Maintains the personnel security database, ensure employee compliance with mandatory training requirements, and administers the processing of security clearances for company personnel.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

About you

• Requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Without a degree, requires a high school diploma or equivalent with six (6) years of personnel security experience.
• Minimum 2 years of work experience.
• Safeguards and Security experience preferred.
• Ability to obtain a Department of Energy (DOE) Q clearance.
• Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
• Clear, articulate, and professional communication skills across all formats.
• Ability to comprehend and implement complex government and corporate security requirements.
• Skilled in handling several document review and revision cycles simultaneously.
• Skilled at prioritizing tasks, delivering on time, and ensuring accuracy through careful attention to detail.
• Demonstrates sound judgment and professionalism when handling confidential information.
• Commitment to maintaining a professional atmosphere built on ethical conduct, transparency, and a deep respect for diverse perspectives, ensuring all team members feel supported.
• Must be a U.S. citizen in order to be considered.

Additional information

Expected compensation range is between $52,000-$87,000 annually depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
