JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a highly experienced and forward-thinking Infrastructure Architect to join our global infrastructure team. This senior-level role is responsible for the design, strategy, and governance of enterprise infrastructure across Windows, Linux, virtualization, container platforms, cloud, and storage services. The ideal candidate will bring broad infrastructure expertise with a strong focus on scalability, resiliency, and alignment with business objectives, with significant experience in Microsoft Azure, Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager (OLVM), and Red Hat OpenShift.

As a senior architect, this role will define technical standards, create reference architectures, guide solution designs, and collaborate closely with engineering and operations teams to ensure successful implementation and ongoing optimization of enterprise platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Define and maintain enterprise infrastructure standards, reference architectures, and technology roadmaps across data center, virtualization, container, and cloud platforms.
  • Design solutions across Windows, Linux, virtualization (including OLVM), storage, and container platforms (including OpenShift) to ensure performance, scalability, and high availability.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies in areas such as hybrid cloud, containers, and automation and recommend adoption strategies to modernize the infrastructure stack.
  • Ensure designs are aligned with security, compliance, identity, and business continuity requirements.
  • Develop multi-year infrastructure strategies and guide investment decisions in collaboration with IT leadership.
  • Establish governance frameworks for infrastructure standards, capacity planning, lifecycle management, and technology selection.
  • Define and enforce best practices for infrastructure resiliency, monitoring, disaster recovery, and business continuity across on-prem and cloud environments.
  • Partner with infrastructure engineers, system administrators, and support teams to ensure architectural standards are consistently implemented and sustainable in operations.
  • Provide technical leadership on complex projects, migrations, platform refreshes, and modernization efforts including virtualization standardization, Azure adoption, and container platforms.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to IT leadership, business stakeholders, and project managers, clearly articulating trade-offs, risks, and recommended approaches.
  • Architect and optimize virtualization platforms including VMware vSphere, Red Hat Openshift, and Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager (OLVM) for performance, scalability, and resiliency.
  • Define standards for resource planning, host clustering, high availability, disaster recovery, and capacity models across all hypervisor platforms.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of cloud environments with a primary focus on Microsoft Azure (IaaS and core platform services), and familiarity with AWS or OCI to support hybrid solutions.
  • Design hybrid architectures integrating on-prem virtualization (VMware/OLVM/Hyper-V) with Azure services, including networking, identity, storage, and backup strategies.
  • Collaborate with dedicated cloud architecture and security teams to align infrastructure designs with overall cloud strategy and governance.
  • Design and optimize enterprise storage solutions (SAN/NAS) to support high-performance, resilient workloads across virtualized, containerized, and cloud-hosted environments.
  • Define standards for SMB/CIFS shares, storage tiering, backup and recovery strategies, snapshot usage, and disaster recovery replication.
  • Collaborate with data management and backup teams on retention, compliance, recovery time objectives (RTO), and recovery point objectives (RPO).
  • Establish automation and infrastructure-as-code standards using scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python) and tools such as Ansible, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).
  • Promote infrastructure-as-code practices for consistent, repeatable, and auditable deployments across on-prem virtualization platforms, Azure, and OpenShift.
  • Define patterns and guardrails for automated provisioning, configuration management, and policy enforcement across infrastructure domains.
  • Integrate security controls, identity models, and compliance requirements into infrastructure, cloud, and container platform designs.
  • Define patching, configuration baselines, monitoring, and vulnerability management standards in collaboration with security and operations teams.
  • Maintain up-to-date architectural diagrams, technical standards, pattern libraries, and design documentation for key platforms (virtualization, Azure, OpenShift, storage).

Requirements:

  • Extensive knowledge ofWindows Server design and architecture.
  • Strong experience designing and integrating Linux environments (preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux or equivalent).
  • Deep expertise in virtualization architecture with VMware vSphere; experience designing solutions leveraging Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager (OLVM) is highly desirable.
  • Architectural experience with SAN/NAS storage systems and SMB/CIFS file services, including replication and DR strategies.
  • Proven experience with Microsoft Azure architecture and hybrid environments integrating on-prem infrastructure with cloud services; exposure to AWS or OCI is a plus.
  • Experience architecting or integrating Red Hat OpenShift or other enterprise Kubernetes platforms, including infrastructure and platform considerations.
  • Proficiency with automation and scripting tools (PowerShell, Bash, Python) and automation frameworks such as Ansible and Terraform.
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, security principles, and identity/access management (e.g., AD, Azure AD / Entra ID).
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business terms and decision options.
  • Experience leading design workshops, technical reviews, architecture boards, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • 7-10 years of experience in infrastructure engineering/architecture roles.
  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator/Engineer, VMware VCAP/VCIX, RHCA/RHCE, or TOGAF.
  • Experience working in ITIL-aligned environments with a focus on service design.
