Your role and responsibilities
At ABB Energy Industries, we are at the forefront of enabling safe, smart, and sustainable projects across various sectors. At Marine & Ports, we are a leading supplier of Marine propulsion and electrical systems and services. As a Contract Manager, you will play a crucial role in driving integrated solutions that automate, digitalize, and electrify industries, contributing to operational efficiency, risk reduction, and sustainability.
We are now looking for a new Contract and Claims Manager to join our team in Energy Industries and Marine & Ports, at our offices in Vaasa or Helsinki. In this role, you work both with our sales- and execution projects within both of these business units in Finland. You will also work with our service teams and care agreements.
For sales, you will have an active role being responsible for preparing, leading, and executing negotiations, with existing and new customers, as well as negotiating and reviewing terms and conditions, extensions and renewals of framework-/service agreements, in close cooperation with Legal. In close cooperation with also other functions, like bid managers and teams, you will be:
In execution the work is distinctly operational, working with project teams in close collaboration with the project managers, as well as with the legal department. The role holds the responsibility to manage and lead commercial activities throughout the execution of our projects identifying the contract baseline (including terms and conditions, specifications, drawings, estimate, proposal, schedule, and other documents incorporated in the contract) and highlighting the areas of potential risk.

As a Contract Manager, you will play a crucial role in driving integrated solutions that automate, digitalize, and electrify industries, contributing to operational efficiency, risk reduction, and sustainability.
We are now looking for a new Contract and Claims Manager to join our team in Energy Industries and Marine & Ports, at our offices in Vaasa or Helsinki. In this role, you work both with our sales- and execution projects within both of these business units in Finland. You will also work with our service teams and care agreements.
For sales, you will have an active role being responsible for preparing, leading, and executing negotiations, with existing and new customers, as well as negotiating and reviewing terms and conditions, extensions and renewals of framework-/service agreements, in close cooperation with Legal. In close cooperation with also other functions, like bid managers and teams, you will be:
- Leading contract management in daily activities with active involvement
- Advising on contractual matters during the sales phase, assessing bids and commitments
- Early involvement in pre-sales activities and participation in development of new types of contracts
- Assisting in negotiations with customers, suppliers, and partners, including reviewing terms and conditions
- Support in implementation and changes and adjustments to contracts ,frame- and care agreements.
In execution the work is distinctly operational, working with project teams in close collaboration with the project managers, as well as with the legal department. The role holds the responsibility to manage and lead commercial activities throughout the execution of our projects identifying the contract baseline (including terms and conditions, specifications, drawings, estimate, proposal, schedule, and other documents incorporated in the contract) and highlighting the areas of potential risk.
You will be mainly accountable for:
- Reviewing terms and conditions in the sales phase
- Managing and leading commercial activities throughout project lifecycle
- Assisting project management in execution, claims handling, risk mitigation and requirement management
- Leading negotiations with customers, sub-suppliers and other relevant stakeholders
- Ensuring the timely execution of commercial aspects of ongoing contracts, including monitoring and assessment of changes and deviations, as well as defending and enforcing claims.
- Ensuring that lessons learned are well documented and taken into account in future contracts and agreements

Qualifications for the role
- Master of Laws degree or higher education in Business, Finance, Engineering, or Project Management.
- Strong English and Finnish, both written and spoken. Swedish skills are considered an advantage.
- Experience with contract- and/or commercial management
- Understanding of and interest in contract models, financing, and legal aspects
- Team-oriented personality with an entrepreneurial spirit to operate independently
- Leadership skills and the ability to lead and develop high-performing teams
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with a commercial mindset
