SIMOPS Leader

Total Energies
Context & Environment
There is no equivalent project of such an industrial drilling magnitude in a remote and sensitive area within the Company today. The Tilenga oilfields are partly situated in a protected National Park, partly beneath the river Nile wetlands area, and within densely populated area in a rural and remote part of Uganda. Activities exposed to the risk of major incidents with severe potential consequences due to local environment and important presence of NGO's. Factory Drilling with a well delivered every 4 days using 3 drilling rigs simultaneously will necessitate standardization of equipment and procedures, strict enforcement of Drilling & Well instructions, safe and efficient logistic management on site. The project is focused on delivering the lowest possible cost, which requires challenging TotalEnergies design concepts as well as substantially challenging the TotalEnergies referential. Heavy and waxy oils will be produced from 29 well pads, (with 9 located in a national park) and treated in a Production Center of 200,000bopd oil capacity and 650,000 bwpd of water treatment capacity. Reservoir pressure maintenance is ensured either by water injection and by polymer water injection depending on the reservoir's characteristics. The project also includes an extended interconnecting network with temperature preservation. LPG extraction, storage and tankers loading facilities are part of the CPF facilities.
Multicultural environment Ugandan rules and regulations, administrative requirements and technical authorizations as well as international codes for onshore plant will apply. Due to staggered development on CPF and Well Pads, it is expected that SIMOPS at CPF (Operations vs Construction and Commissioning) and SIMOPS at Well Pads (Operations/DW or WO/Construction and Commissioning) will occur.
