Job Description Summary

Grand Rapids facility builds electronic communication components, communication centers, beacon transmitters. These communication parts tell the command center what to do.

As a Machine Repair person your primary function is to install, troubleshoot, repair and / or rebuild various productions equipment.

Core Responsibilities:

Preventive Maintenance (PM)

- Execute scheduled PMs on building systems (Electrical distribution, compressed air, plumbing, fire systems, lighting, doors, dock equipment, and general infrastructure)

- Document PM completion, findings, and parts used in the CMMS

- Identify and recommend PM optimizations based on failure trends

- Review completed work for quality and documentation

Corrective Maintenance (CM)

- Troubleshoot and repair facility equipment and utilities to restore operation safely and quickly

- Escalate complex issues and coordinate with management as needed

- Maintain critical spares, consumables, and tool control

Safety & Compliance

- Follow all lockout/tagout, electrical safety, confined space, working at heights, and hot work procedures

- Maintain compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., NFPA, NEC, OSHA/region-specific regulations)

- Partner with EHS and Production to resolve facility related issues

- Maintain orderly, safe shop areas

Documentation

- Open/close work orders, record labor hours, materials, and detailed problem/cause/remedy notes, preferably Maximo or equivalent

- Maintain accurate equipment records, SOPs, and job plans

- Track spare parts usage and trigger reorders as needed

Emergency Response

- Respond to facility alarms, power issues, leaks, weather-related incidents, and after-hours calls as needed

Technical Skills

- Proficient in Electrical, mechanical, and plumbing fundamentals

- Ability to read schematics, and blueprints

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Have a High School Diploma / GED
  • Journeyman status (electrical, mechanical, plumbing etc.) or equivalent related experience


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Operate forklift, high-lifts and other similar types of equipment.
