About the Role
NOV Flexibles Kalundborg is seeking a skilled Welding Engineer to take technical ownership of welding processes across our production lines. This role is critical to ensuring weld quality, compliance, and operational efficiency through strong engineering expertise and a visible, hands-on presence on the shop floor.
Working closely with the Global Manufacturing Process Engineering (MPE) Welding team, you will support welding qualifications, maintain robust and compliant processes, lead structured root cause analysis (RCA), and drive sustainable improvements in safety, quality, and productivity. The role is based on-site in Kalundborg, within a high-integrity manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
Welding Process Management
- Ensure welding processes comply with internal requirements, customer specifications, and international standards (ASME, ISO, EN, NORSOK).
- Develop, qualify, and maintain WPS and WPQR; coordinate welder qualifications with third-party inspectors.
- Support critical welding setups, machine parameterization, and equipment performance.
- Perform welding tests, trials, and mock-ups in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Lead and support troubleshooting, RCA, and corrective and preventive actions during production issues.
- Define and optimize welding parameters with focus on safety, quality, productivity, and cost.
- Conduct risk assessments and participate in Management of Change activities.
Process Improvement and Documentation
- Support R&D and manufacturing initiatives related to welding technology, automation, and digitalization.
- Drive continuous improvement through data collection, analysis, and process optimization.
- Develop and maintain work instructions, process documentation, and training materials in Danish and English.
- Ensure welding documentation, calibration logs, and reports are accurate and up to date.
- Support Lean and 5S implementation in welding areas.
Governance, Collaboration, and HSE
- Support welding governance in alignment with global standards and site leadership.
- Prepare for and support internal and external audits.
- Mentor and guide welding technicians and operators, strengthening local capability.
- Collaborate with Design, R&D, Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and HSE.
- Promote and apply HSE best practices in all welding activities.
Qualifications & Skills
Essential Qualifications:
- IWT (International Welding Technologist) certification or equivalent.
- Technical education within welding, mechanical, or metallurgical disciplines.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in welding engineering or technologist roles.
- Experience from oil & gas or heavy fabrication environments.
- Strong knowledge of ASME, ISO/EN, and NORSOK standards.
- Deep expertise in welding metallurgy, consumables, NDT, and failure analysis.
- Broad material knowledge and strong understanding of welded joint behavior.
- Fluent in Danish and English (written and technical).
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Desired Qualifications:
- B.Sc. degree or higher in welding, materials, mechanical engineering, or similar.
- IWE (International Welding Engineer) certification or equivalent.
- Experience leading process optimization, automation, or digital manufacturing initiatives.
- Knowledge of corrosion and metallurgical behavior in welded joints.
- Familiarity with digital manufacturing tools, data collection systems, Oracle, and supplier/customer interfaces.
