What's the role
As an Industrial Hygienist you play a pivotal role in protecting worker health, managing health risks and supporting physical, psychological & social wellbeing of workers at our Shell QGC operations in Queensland. You will be a key member of our multidisciplinary Shell Health Australia Team as well as a valued member of Shell Health's global community. Reporting to the Health Manager Australia, you will help position Shell as an industry leader in workforce health and wellbeing.
You will be responsible for integrating worker health protection strategies across all QGC environments, adapting to evolving business demands. You'll manage key stakeholders and deliver on Health's strategic objectives that support workforce wellbeing and business performance.

What you'll be doing
- Implement industrial hygiene strategy and standards and deliver high‑quality services across QGC Operations and Projects, meeting operational needs and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and industry best practices.
- Supervise hygiene contractors where necessary and ensure quality assurance of hygiene and analytical services.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed health priorities into operational practices.
- Coach and mentor health professionals (nurses, medics) on industrial hygiene principles and act as a subject matter expert for other disciplines.
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive, outcome-focused Health plan.
- Enable the successful embedding of workload discipline and continuous improvement, translating strategic direction into practical actions.
- Foster a matrix organizational culture within the health team, encouraging collaboration across vertical and horizontal partnerships.
What you bring

You will also bring:
- Degree in Industrial Hygiene or related science discipline (Chemical, Physics, Biology, etc.).
- Postgraduate qualifications in Occupational Hygiene.
- Certified Occupational Hygienist (COH) with the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygiene (AIOH), or equivalent.
- Several years' experience in industrial hygiene practice, preferably in oil and gas or comparable high-risk industry.
- Thorough understanding of local and regional legislative requirements regarding workplace health and safety.
- Proven experience in implementing worker health protection programs with measurable outcomes.
- Experience advising stakeholders on industrial hygiene requirements aligned with business and/or functional needs and priorities.
- Excellent communication (verbal/written) and time management skills and ability to influence and build trust.
- Demonstrated ability to shape positive team culture, foster collaboration, drive continuous improvement, and deliver impactful outcomes.
- A deep commitment to Goal Zero, safety leadership, and personal accountability.
