Wood is currently recruiting for a Lead Buyer to join our team for a large-scale challenging construction project. We are looking for individuals with expertise and experience who are ready to take on new challenges and assist us achieve excellence in schedule, safety, and quality.

RESPONSIBILITIES

What makes you remarkable?

Leadership & Guidance
  • Provide direction and support to Buyers and Senior Buyers to ensure all supply chain activities comply with the project execution plan, schedule, contracting strategy, budgets, and procedures
  • Assist in developing and communicating processes and procedures to relevant personnel

Supplier & Subcontractor Qualification
  • Issue Pre-qualification Questionnaires (PQ) to potential new suppliers and subcontractors
  • Carry out due diligence activities as per Supply Chain procedures and prepare tenderer lists for approval

Planning & Reporting
  • Update Procurement and Subcontract Status Reports in line with project/client requirements and notify delays to Project Management
  • Attend regular project progress meetings with clients, engineering, and project management to maintain deliverable timelines

Procurement & Subcontract Administration
  • Perform all pre- and post-award purchasing and subcontracting activities in accordance with project procedures and work instructions
  • Lead preparation of contract enquiry documentation, including scopes of work, terms and conditions, and enquiry packages
  • Manage tender reviews, evaluations, and meetings; prepare meeting notes as required
  • Prepare and execute contract documents in line with Delegation of Authority (DOA)
  • Administer contracts post-award, including payment certificates, price variations, claims registers, and close-out activities

Expediting & Performance Managemen
  • Issue expediting progress reports and update systems accordingly.
  • Interpret supplier production plans to identify improvement opportunities and negotiate delivery improvements
  • Monitor supplier/ subcontractor performance, maintain records of deviations, ensure compliance with contractual obligations, and manage order close-out

Commercial & Legal Compliance
  • Understand client head contract requirements and integrate them into subcontract strategies, plans, and terms
  • Collaborate with Wood's legal and commercial experts; under guidance, initiate or discuss exceptions to achieve robust agreements
  • Coordinate all commercial and contractual activities, including variations, claims, acceptance certificate

Site & Operational Support
  • Ensure subcontractors receive necessary access, materials, documents, and safety information to meet obligations
  • Use all contractual remedies to ensure subcontractor compliance

Proposal Support
  • Obtain subcontractor quotations to support Proposal Group during Wood's bidding stage


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in field of engineering or business
  • Minimum of 10 years Supply Chain experience of working within Procurement preferably within the Oil & Gas Petrochemical plant
  • Broad knowledge of Suppliers, commercial Evaluations, Negotiations and Terms and Conditions of Purchase/Contract.
  • Record of skills training appropriate for job specific role.
  • Excellent communication skills, written, oral and presentation
  • Maintains a strong network both within and outside of supply chain department
  • Positively maintain relationships with suppliers and other disciplines
  • Planning and organisational skills
  • Enthusiastic proactive attitude
  • Adaptability and Problem-Solving skill
  • Work as part of project execution team
  • Identify efficiency, process and tool improvement opportunities and successful drive through change
  • Fluent in English and Thai language skills (both spoken & written) to enable effective communications with Client, Sub - Contractors & Vendors
  • Be able to work as part of team as well as individually when required
