about the position
Chevron ENGINE has an exciting opportunit y for a Mariner Development Advisor to join the Subsea, Civil and Marine Engineering team. Reporting to th e Manager, t his role will be based in Chevron's office in Bengaluru .
The Mariner Development Advisor is accountable for supporting the professional development, performance management, and career progression of mariners. This role involves coordinating training, managing feedback loops, facilitating onboarding, and ensuring alignment with organizational standards and compliance requirements. The advisor acts as a liaison between Mariners, Fleet Operations, and the Fleet Personnel Management Department to promote continuous improvement and operational excellence for the Mariners.
Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, and work hours are aligned to business needs. Standard working hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 1:30 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday to Friday. These may evolve based on operational or business requirements.
Key responsibilitie s
Career Development & Performance Management
Plan operational exposure for mariners from a development perspective
Monitor and guide mariner career progression, identifying officer development gaps and opportunities
Provide personnel support, guidance, and coaching on talent profile development
Conduct feedback and development calls; provide appraisal and PMP feedback to mariners and appraisers
Maintain and oversee the promotable pool, highlighting personnel for special assignments and proposing dry dock/delivery assignments
Onboarding & Training Coordination
Facilitate onboarding processes for new and returning mariners
Track course and training attendance, prioritize and escalate ODP (Officer Development Program) attendance
Recommend study leave and support job pool identification and PDR (Performance Development Review) processes
Compliance & Documentation
Manage OPS 16 documentation and workflows, ensuring alignment with compliance requirements
Monitor critical competence completion and administer the IDAMP system
Track crew sickness, administrative issues, and fit-for-duty status
Manage conflict of interest disclosures and Workday DOA limits
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
Act as liaison between mariners, Fleet Operations, and Fleet Personnel Management
Notify fleet of upcoming job openings via PDC (Personnel Data Centre )
Collect and synthesize feedback on mariners from ships and shore
Participate in mariner interviews and attend Engine Room/Deck MAP sessions as observer
Operational Support & Continuous Improvement
Recommend personnel for special assignments and manage visa escalation issues
Coordinate disciplinary actions (ROD/PIP) and oversee R&A Award nominations
Manage cost and budget control as applicable
Manage IT-related tasks relevant to mariner performance and development
