By analyzing control system and operational data, you will uncover patterns, develop predictive capabilities, and deliver data-driven decision support for real-world power plant environments.
- Apply AI-based anomaly detection, diagnostics, and decision-support solutions to real power-plant operational challenges.
- Translate plant operating behavior, control logic, alarms, and historian trends into practical AI use cases and agent workflows.
- Work with time-series operational data from DCS/SCADA and plant historians (preferably Emerson Ovation) to identify abnormal patterns, degradation, and performance losses.
- Collaborate with sales and marketing, and reliability teams to validate AI insights against real plant conditions.
- Support development and tuning of AI/analytics models using Python and data tools (focus on application rather than algorithm research).
- Integrate AI outputs into dashboards, alerts, and engineering workflows without impacting plant safety or control integrity.
- Test, validate, and monitor AI solutions in live or near-real plant environments, ensuring reliability and low false-alarm rates.
- Continuously improve AI performance using operational feedback, historical fault data, and domain knowledge.
- Troubleshoot deployed analytics/AI tools and coordinate improvements with software or data teams.
For This Role, You Will Need:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical, or Control Engineering (or equivalent plant experience).
- Hands-on experience in power-plant operations, control systems, or industrial automation (DCS/SCADA exposure required; Emerson Ovation preferred).
- Strong understanding of:
- Plant processes (boiler, turbine, balance-of-plant, heat rate, alarms, trips)
- Instrumentation, control loops, and operational troubleshooting
- Historian/time-series operational data
- Basic programming or data skills (Python, SQL, or similar) sufficient to work with analytics and AI teams.
- Practical understanding of anomaly detection, predictive maintenance, or performance monitoring concepts (application level, not theory).

Experience with Emerson Ovation DCS or similar control systems is highly valued, particularly in integrating AI modules into engineering workflows.
- Experience implementing predictive maintenance, fault detection, or performance optimization in power or process plants.
- Familiarity with AI/ML-enabled analytics tools, rule-based systems, or industrial digital solutions (no deep research background required).
- You should bring experience in predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, and process optimization using time-series data. Familiarity with responsible AI practices, such as explainability, bias detection, and compliance, is important to ensure safe adoption in critical infrastructure. Strong communication and collaboration skills will enable you to connect AI innovations with domain experts and deliver practical, impactful solutions.
