We are currently seeking a Study Manager - Technical Safety to join our Genesis team based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

About the Job

To evolve and develop the technical safety and risk engineering services business line for the Kuala Lumpur office. This may include:

• Technical authority of work performed by the team
• Development of related value adding services/capabilities within the team
• Identifying and securing business opportunities
• Tendering input and preparation
• Staff coordination and development
• Building and maintaining key client relationships

Main Accountabilities;

The job holder must have proven:

• General management of and accountability for the technical safety team, addressing: project performance, staff development, client relationships and interfaces.
• Resource management, ensuring studies are properly supported by capable individuals
• Utilization targets for individuals in the team, in line with yearly objectives
• Technical & commercial responsibility for proposals
• Support business development to attract and retain clients
• Profitability, quality and efficiency of project execution for the discipline
• Technical support in projects lead engineer or study manager in line with project needs
• Effective client contact, relationship building & management to positively influence clients
• Technical competencies for the team, support of career development plans for individuals
• Learning and development plans
• Support the development of local and regional strategies
• Support operational excellence, quality improvement, and efficiency of the team.
• Ensure full compliance with Company standards and procedures
• Support a culture of continuous quality improvement
• Responsible for leading single discipline work scopes or leading the relevant discipline input to multi discipline work scopes
• Performs design calculations and assist in the performance of engineering and field development studies.
• Runs of proprietary software or in-house developed software
• Performs engineering calculations and Produce engineering documents.
• Ensures that the project scope of work, design basis, philosophies, standards and procedures including QA are known, understood and implemented by the discipline teams assigned to the project.
• Participates in all discipline activities including preparation and checking of documents, specifications, procedures, standards, data sheets etc.
• Prepares and check enquiry/purchase requisitions.
• Supports and leads proposals as required.

About You

• Degree in Chemical Engineering essential & MIChemE preferred
• Over 15 years of experience in technical safety particularly within the oil and gas industry
• Strong experience on project execution during front end engineering phase particularly with ESSA, FERA, TRIA, EERA, Dropped objects, QRA, SGIA, FEA, SCEs, PSs, safety cases, etc.
• HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, ALARP, Safety Design Case, LOPA Bow Tie Workshops
• Preparation of risk analysis studies (qualitative, semi-quantitative, quantitative) and formal safety assessment (FSA) studies, including MAE screening, Fire and Explosion Risk Analysis, Non-Flammable Risk Analysis (Dropped Object Risk, Ship Collision Risk, Occupational Risk, Structural Risk), Escape Temporary Refuge, Evacuation and Rescue Analysis, Emergency Systems Survivability Analysis, ALARP Evaluations
• Safety engineering skills within specialty area
• Understanding oil and gas risk and safety related codes and standards
• Preparation of safety cases and / or safety reports, including Facility Description, Safety Management System Description, FSA Description, Hazard Registers, Bow tie Diagrams
• Workshops facilitation experience preferred

Safety Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate HSE behavior in line with Genesis standards
• Ensure that safety and environmental impacts are adequately addressed in all decision making.

Additional information:

• The role will be based in Kuala Lumpur, but some regional travelling should be expected. The role is viewed as a long-term commitment with visibility from Genesis management team; thus, the role is ideally suited to personnel who wish to develop their skills in a vibrant atmosphere and shape the future of a rapidly expanding organization in an active market.
• Highlights and supports resolution of inter-discipline problems associated with the project involved.
• Must be able to liaise with other project personnel of various cultures and ethnicities.
