JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood is recruiting for a Project Manager to join its Malaysia Business Unit, supporting the delivery of largescale data centre campus developments. The role will be part of the Onsite Owner's Representative team, acting on behalf of the client to ensure project objectives related to safety, quality, cost, schedule, and operational readiness are achieved.

The Role

The Project Manager will be responsible for leading and coordinating Owner's Representative services across the full construction lifecycle of complex data centre projects in Malaysia. This includes close engagement with the client, General Contractor, designers, commissioning agents, and specialist vendors to ensure alignment with functional program requirements, approved schedules, quality standards, EHS expectations, and commissioning and closeout requirements.

This role requires strong leadership, field-based delivery experience, and the ability to manage complex interfaces in a FastTrack, mission critical construction environment while ensuring compliance with local regulatory requirements and global data centre standards.

Key Responsibilities Project Planning & Execution


• Lead the delivery of Owner's Representative services from early works through construction, commissioning, and handover
• Ensure alignment of the General Contractor's execution with the client's Functional Program Requirements
• Oversee construction progress on site, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to required quality standards
• Establish and manage effective communication structures, reporting protocols, and governance processes


Stakeholder & Contractor Coordination


• Act as the primary sitebased liaison between the client, General Contractor, designers, commissioning agents, and thirdparty contractors
• Coordinate multidisciplinary inputs including schedule, quality, EHS, BIM, commissioning, logistics, and document control
• Support review and alignment of contractor proposals, methodologies, and construction plans with project requirements




Schedule, Risk & Performance Management


• Monitor and challenge construction schedules, identifying risks, critical path impacts, and mitigation strategies
• Proactively identify emerging risks related to site conditions, logistics, material availability, or regulatory constraints
• Drive corrective actions and recovery plans where deviations from plan are identified
• Provide regular progress, risk, and performance reports to the client




Quality, Safety & Compliance


• Ensure construction activities comply with approved Quality Plans, EHS requirements, and regulatory obligations
• Promote a strong safety culture and support corrective actions for nonconformance or noncompliance
• Support coordination between construction and commissioning teams to enable smooth transition to operations



Documentation & Closeout


• Oversee project reporting, site records, and compliance documentation
• Support punch list management, commissioning readiness, and closeout activities
• Ensure documentation and handover deliverables are completed in accordance with the Project Manual

Expected:


Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline

• Minimum 15-20 years of experience delivering largescale construction projects, preferably data centres or other mission critical facilities



• Strong site based project leadership experience within EPC, owner's representative, or construction management environments
• Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and complex contractor interfaces
• PMP or equivalent project management certification is highly desirable



• Strong understanding of construction safety, quality management, commissioning, and project controls
