Job Overview

The Field Operator III performs advanced hands-on field and workshop operations using Weatherford equipment, machinery, and systems. This role applies established techniques, procedures, and technical work instructions to execute assignments safely, efficiently, and to a high-quality standard. As a senior operational role, the Field Operator III is expected to demonstrate strong technical competence and may assume leadership responsibilities at the rig site or workshop, including coordination of activities and guidance of junior Field Operators.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform all duties in accordance with documented Weatherford policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Workplace Practices.
  • Actively participate in daily operations, safety meetings, toolbox talks, and Job Hazard Analyses (JHA), promptly reporting hazards, incidents, or operational issues using approved reporting tools.
  • Maintain equipment, facilities, and work areas in a safe, clean, and presentable condition.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of operational and non-operational documentation, support systems, and technical work instructions, ensuring work is completed to the highest quality standards and within required timeframes.
  • Conduct functional testing, inspection, and monitoring of equipment in strict adherence to work instructions and within the scope of training and competency.
  • Inspect used parts to determine dimensional changes using appropriate measuring instruments such as rules, calipers, and micrometers.
  • Execute maintenance activities including unloading, disassembly, cleaning, pressure testing, visual inspection, assembly, loading, and storage of tools, ensuring accurate and complete documentation.
  • Rig up and rig down equipment in accordance with approved procedures and competency requirements.
  • Clean, lubricate, repair, operate, service, and maintain mechanical, electronic, and hydraulic components as per work instructions.
  • Drive company vehicles (including pickups, trucks, and truck-mounted units) to well sites while maintaining a satisfactory driving record.
  • Lead and support other Field Operators by planning and coordinating jobs from start to finish, operating equipment, troubleshooting technical issues, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior staff, including on-the-job guidance and participation in competency assessments.
  • In senior assignments, lead workshop activities by defining and distributing work schedules, monitoring productivity, and conducting inspections to ensure quality, efficiency, and compliance with SOPs.
  • Perform other duties safely as assigned by the supervisor, within the physical requirements of the role.

  • Strong task sequencing and problem anticipation skills with the ability to identify and apply appropriate solutions.
  • Effective reaction and coordination when operating tools and machinery.
  • Spatial and mechanical awareness to visualize assemblies, repairs, and modifications prior to execution.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Proven hands-on experience in MPD is highly required.
  • Strong knowledge of MPD and drilling operations is required.
