Wood is currently recruiting for a Construction Lead (Marine Works) - Expression of Interest - 6 months to join its Singapore business unit, focusing on planning, supervision, and execution of all marine-related construction activities on an onshore/nearshore oil & gas facility in Basra, Iraq.
This is a full-time onsite position in Basra, Iraq, with travel requirement.
Note: This role is for a short-term basis for a period of 6 months with a potential of extension

Job Purpose
The Construction Lead (Marine Works) is responsible for the planning, supervision, and execution of all marine-related construction activities—including piling, quay wall structures, jetties, causeways, near‑shore civil works, and marine equipment installation. The role ensures that all construction operations comply with safety standards, project specifications, schedule, and quality requirements on a remote Iraq project site.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead construction for piling, sheet piles, diaphragm walls, quay walls, revetments, jetties, trestles, dolphins, fenders, mooring systems, and associated civil & structural works.
- Manage near‑shore marine operations including dredging, reclamation, backfilling, shoreline protection, and marine equipment deployment.
- Coordinate barge operations, crane lifts from water, and marine logistics.
- Enforce marine safety standards aligned with IMO, HSE guidelines, and Iraq local regulations.
- Oversee safe operations of marine vessels, barges, tugboats, diving teams, and heavy lifting equipment.
- Conduct daily safety walkdowns, toolbox talks, and ensure adherence to PTW for marine works.
- Ensure marine risk assessments (JSA, TRA) are completed for all critical marine activities.
- Review and validate marine construction schedules (Level 3/4) with the EPC contractor.
- Track progress for piling, structural work, and marine installations; highlight deviations and corrective measures.
- Conduct daily and weekly marine construction meetings with contractors and subcontractors.
- Interpret marine engineering drawings, construction methodologies, and geotechnical reports.
- Approve marine construction method statements, lift plans, and equipment mobilization plans.
- Manage technical queries (TQs), field change requests, as-built development, and design interfaces.
- Ensure compliance with standardsand project specifications.
- Ensure QA/QC compliance for piling records, marine concreting, reinforcement, structural steel, NDT, and geotechnical tests.
- Oversee material inspection steel piles, tie rods, fenders, bollards, precast elements.
- Conduct joint QC walkdowns and ensure punch lists are closed before handover.
- Manage EPC contractors, subcontractors, marine equipment suppliers, and logistics teams.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, HSSE, and project controls teams.
- Participate in interface meetings with client representatives and classification authorities.

Expected:
- Bachelor's degree in civil, Marine, or Structural Engineering.
Professional Experience
- 10-18+ years in marine civil construction.
- Minimum 5+ years as Lead/Supervisor on major marine projects (jetties, ports, terminals, quay walls).
- Experience in Middle East / Iraq or similar remote, high-security environments preferred.
- Strong knowledge of heavy marine equipment, geotechnical works, and near‑shore construction constraints.
