This strategic unit optimizes the Group's and clients' production assets and designs tailored energy solutions for our 200,000 professional clients and 15 million consumers.

The Global Business Unit Supply & Energy Management leverages ENGIE's assets to deliver secure and sustainable energy to its B2B and B2C customers. It uses its expertise in energy management to provide decarbonized electricity 24/7.

Our Mission & Objectives
  • Deliver carbon-free energy to clients around the world, 24/7
  • Maximize the value of ENGIE's diverse assets-including renewables, thermal generation, and storage
  • Serve over 15 million residential customers and 200,000 businesses, aiming to reach 550 TWh by 2030 with a growing share of green electricity
  • Promote agility, collaboration, and transparency throughout the organization

S&EM is structured around three core pillars:
  • OneB2B: Focused on streamlining and scaling ENGIE's business-to-business solutions across multiple countries

Together, we push the boundaries of innovation to deliver decarbonized energy 24/7. Join us and be part of those shaping the energy of tomorrow!

Context of the Supply Portfolio Management (SPM) - Strategic Importance

SPM plays a vital role in modeling and hedging energy risks for client portfolios. The function is evolving from locally fragmented teams to a more centralized, harmonized approach. Key transformation initiatives include:
  • Establishing a central SPM expertise center to develop consistent methods and tools
  • Building a collaborative, cross-geography SPM community
  • Supporting career growth for portfolio managers
  • Promoting best practices and unified risk representation
  • Implementing scalable, automated systems for improved forecasting, pricing, and contract management

Our teams are committed to fostering a culture of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continual improvement, ensuring both global alignment and local value creation for ENGIE's clients and stakeholders.

Within SPM the transversal expertise group TrueWatts is in charge of:
  • gathering people in charge of actuals consumption management
  • sharing good practice
  • build expertise on data modeling and grid error management
  • design the MPD features and support its deployment (MDP is the product in charge of metering data management in Engie)

This group is composed of several operational data managers of different BPs, in charge of certifying the data (metering, allocation, balancing and billing volumes) for all Supply and Energy Management processes, leveraging the use of the MDP platform.

Additionally, the core product team is the small data science team in charge of designing the core features that will be industrialized by MDP IT teams. The features support all the grid data imperfections: holes in timeseries, outliers handling, inconsistencies between sources, etc. From the detection of inconsistency patterns to the correction algorithm, this team is in charge of setting the common framework used throughout all the B2B countries and for Poland also the Energy Management scope.

Context of the Data Governance - Strategic Importance

In today's rapidly evolving energy landscape, robust data governance and a culture of data awareness and data-driven decision making are more critical than ever. The energy market is experiencing unprecedented shifts-driven by decarbonization, decentralization, and digitalization-while technological innovations such as AI are transforming how companies operate and compete in this changing energy market. In this environment, establishing clear data governance ensures that information is accurate, consistent, and accessible across all business processes, enabling ENGIE to respond swiftly to regulatory changes, market volatility, and customer needs. By embedding data-driven practices, the organization empowers its teams to extract actionable insights, optimize operations, and anticipate future trends. This strategic approach not only supports compliance and operational excellence but also positions ENGIE at the forefront of innovation, allowing it to harness the full potential of advanced analytics and AI to deliver sustainable value for clients and stakeholders.

Role: Data Manager for BP Poland

The Purpose of the Role is double:
1. The Data Manager ensures the provision of certified volume data ("certified actuals consumption") to all supply processes, using a unified model for each MDP product (Metering Data Product). All supply processes-forecasting, offering, closing, billing, actuals booking, and customer care-must rely on the same data model to avoid inconsistencies.

Data management teams process metering data through the MDP product and work closely with operations teams managing relationships with TSO/DSO, including move-in/move-out events, acknowledgments, and regulatory changes.

2. The Data Manager will embark on a journey to define the Data Governance model to be deployed for the whole of BP Poland. The journey has as objective to make Poland a more data aware and data driven platform, which are fundamental to tackle the changes we observe in the market (both on energy markets as well as technological changes).

The role of the Data Manager combines operational responsibilities (ensuring availability of certified data) with build responsibilities (supporting the continuous MDP improvements) and strategic leadership.

Operational Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain expertise on the local market functioning: processes related to data and market operations.
  • Supervise data availability from the market via the MDP platform and collaborate with the IS data officer to ensure coherent and consistent data availability.
  • Detect inconsistencies across market data flows using MDP, qualify these inconsistencies, and coordinate corrections with the forecasting team.
  • Certify the data provided through MDP to all supply processes (forecasting, offering, closing, billing, actuals booking, customer care) and support teams in proper usage of this data.
  • Feed OneB2B Operations with events requiring actions on the DSO/TSO interaction stream.
  • Collaborate with other data managers to standardize monitoring dashboards, supervision rituals, and data certification practices.
  • Build reports to monitor the performance of the BP

Build Responsibilities
  • Prioritize the MDP development backlog based on the needs of downstream (and upstream) processes.
  • Drive communication and project deployment toward country management and SPM management.
  • Ensure maximum convergence with representations and practices used in other countries.
  • Together with the Transformation manager, define and deploy a data governance model for BP Poland
  • Perform data analysis projects in all fields across the BP to drive intelligent decision making.

Hard skills:

Data Investigation & Analysis
• Strong ability to investigate, reconcile, and validate complex datasets.
• Experience in identifying inconsistencies and performing root-cause analysis.
• Ability to translate business questions into data queries and actionable insights.
Databricks & Data Reporting
• Proficiency in (or strong will to learn) Databricks notebooks for data processing, analysis, and visualization.
• Creation of automated reports and dashboards to
o monitor data quality and flows.
o Measure BP performance and report to SEM management
• Knowledge of SQL, Python, or Scala within Databricks for data manipulation.
Data Quality Management
• Implementing and enforcing data quality standards and governance practices.
• Monitoring, supervising, and improving data flows for accuracy and completeness.
• Ensuring certified and reliable data for downstream business processes.
Process & Operational Excellence
• Designing and standardizing monitoring dashboards and reporting rituals.
• Prioritizing data initiatives and backlog based on business impact.
• Experience in cross-functional coordination to ensure consistent data usage across processes.

Soft skills:

Supervision
• Ability to oversee and collaborate with teams within the BP and with the TrueWatts team to ensure data availability and certification and to solve complex business questions.
• Have a strong conviction that data is the answer, not the problem. And that a sound data governance leads to good operational practices and strong PnL results.
Communication and Collaboration
• Clear communication with internal teams, managers, and external stakeholders (TSO/DSO).
• Cross-country collaboration to standardize practices and tools.
• Be a champion for data awareness and data driven decision making.
Analytical Thinking and Accuracy
• Ability to detect inconsistencies in data and accurately qualify issues.
• Ensuring the accuracy of certified volumes for all supply processes.
Organization and Prioritization
• Efficient prioritization of MDP backlog and operational tasks.
• Managing operational responsibilities and build projects simultaneously.
Adaptability and Continuous Learning
• Quickly understanding local market specificities.
• Adapting to regulatory changes and new international practices.
