Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Drilling Engineer to contribute to the safe and efficient execution of drilling operations for BP Berau Ltd. This role involves leading and optimizing complex drilling projects, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and driving continuous improvement in drilling performance.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide guide engineering support for all phases of drilling operations, including well planning, execution, and close-out.
  • Lead the build and implementation of drilling programs, considering geological conditions, well objectives, and cost efficiency.
  • Oversee and optimize drilling fluid systems, ensuring wellbore stability and efficient drilling performance.
  • Handle and implement casing and wellhead recovery operations, adhering to strict safety protocols.
  • Implement and handle Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) techniques to improve drilling efficiency and mitigate risks.
  • Conduct detailed risk assessments and develop effective mitigation strategies for all drilling activities.
  • Lead and participate in the common process for wells activation, ensuring a smooth transition from drilling to production.
  • Oversee rig and vessel intake and start-up procedures, ensuring compliance with company standards and regulations.
  • Handle and supervise daily rig and vessel operations, optimizing performance and resolving operational issues.
  • Develop and implement side-track operations, applying advanced drilling techniques to achieve well objectives.
  • Ensure the accurate function and maintenance of subsea BOPs (Blowout Preventers) and other critical well control equipment.
  • Handle surface wellheads and Christmas trees, ensuring safe and efficient well completions.
  • Oversee tubular handling and installation procedures, ensuring integrity and compliance with build specifications.
  • Implement and handle the management of change (MOC) process for all drilling modifications.
  • Monitor and evaluate supplier performance, ensuring the quality and timely delivery of drilling equipment and services.
  • Champion well control practices and procedures, leading efforts to maintain a high level of well integrity and safety.

Job Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in drilling engineering, with a consistent track record of successful project delivery.
  • In-depth knowledge of Casing and wellhead recovery techniques.
  • Proficiency in the Common process for wells activation.
  • Expertise in Drilling Fluids selection, design, and management.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Drilling Operations and standard processes.
  • Demonstrated experience with Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD).
  • Strong understanding and application of Management of change principles.
  • Experience in Rig and vessel intake and start-up procedures.
  • Shown ability to handle Rig and vessel operations effectively.
  • Exceptional skills in Risk Management as applied to drilling activities.
  • Proficiency in Side-track operations.
  • Thorough knowledge of Subsea/Surface BOPs s and well control equipment.
  • Experience in Supplier Performance Management.
  • Familiarity with Surface wellheads and xmas tree installations.
  • Expertise in Tubular handling and installation.
  • Strong command of Well Control procedures and regulations.
