Job Description:

The Direct Procurement Compliance Specialist plays a key role in ensuring that Castrol's direct procurement activities consistently adhere to internal policies, regulatory standards. This position supports the procurement function by monitoring compliance across category management, sourcing, contracting, and supplier management, with a particular focus on direct materials such as base oils, additives, packaging, and finished products/third‑party manufacturing components.

The specialist works closely with category teams, hub teams, and managers to identify compliance risks, implement effective controls, and drive continuous improvements in procurement practices. The role also supplies to audit readiness, policy enhancement, and training initiatives to strengthen a culture of integrity and accountability within the procurement organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and periodically update Castrol Procurement's risk registers and contribute to Risk Management Reports (RMR) in accordance with bp's Risk Management policy.
  • Deliver training and guidance to procurement and business partners on controls, policies, and compliance requirements.
  • Lead scheduled and ad-hoc reviews to assess the effectiveness of procurement controls, ensuring full alignment with internal policies, legal requirements, and industry regulations.
  • Drive and participate in compliance‑related projects and initiatives aimed at identifying, assessing, and mitigating procurement risks.
  • Provide technical compliance expertise to functional, category, and hub teams to resolve issues and improve processes.
  • Find opportunities for continuous improvement and implement enhancements to procurement controls and compliance frameworks.
  • Coordinate procurement‑related audits and ensure timely completion and closure of all audit actions.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on key procurement compliance metrics across Castrol Procurement.
  • Consolidate compliance reporting from various teams and present clear, actionable updates to leadership.
  • Stay informed of regulatory developments impacting the lubricants industry and procurement practices.

Essential Education, Experience & Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience in procurement compliance, preferably within oil & gas, manufacturing, or chemical/lubricants sectors.
  • Solid understanding of direct procurement processes and supplier management.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations, including anti‑bribery, trade compliance, and ESG‑related requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and problem‑solving capability.
  • Proficiency with procurement systems (e.g., SAP, JDE) and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and influence diverse partners.
