Job Description:

The Retail Operations Communications Advisor plays a key role in supporting and guiding the delivery of effective communication and engagement across bp's retail network, reaching over 6,000 team members in Australia and New Zealand.

Working closely with internal partners, this role ensures the delivery of clear, timely and fit-for-purpose communications that drive operational excellence across the network. Reporting to the Retail Operations Communications Lead, this role offers significant stretch and development opportunities for a proactive communicator ready to take ownership in a fast-paced retail environment where impactful communication is essential to achieving results.

What You Will Deliver

Communications

  • Own and lead end-to-end delivery of communications projects and campaigns driving impactful outcomes across the retail network.
  • Partner with internal collaborators and project teams to deliver clear, consistent and best-practice messaging that supports business priorities.
  • Craft compelling content and experiment with innovative formats to connect frontline teams and elevate engagement.
  • Respond swiftly and confidently to business-critical communication needs, ensuring clarity and timeliness.
  • Manage and maintain key communication platforms (e.g. StorIQ and WorkJam), ensuring content is accurate, accessible and aligned with strategic goals.

Engagement & Events

  • Drive frontline engagement through storytelling and dynamic communication that resonate and inspire.
  • Harness platform analytics to generate insights and continuously improve communication effectiveness.
  • Support the planning and execution of key events and meetings, including store manager meetings and conferences, contributing to memorable and impactful experiences.

Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor and analyse communication performance, using data to refine content quality and optimise channel impact.
  • Proactively identify and implement opportunities for improvement, contributing to a culture of innovation and excellence.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in communications or a related field, with a few years of hands-on practice delivering impactful messaging and stakeholder engagement.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a strong ability to tailor messages for diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively across teams and functions.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering quality work.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic retail environment, with the ability to adapt quickly and manage competing priorities.
  • Tertiary qualification in Communications, Journalism, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Desirable

  • Experience in retail communications within a large organisation.
  • Familiarity with internal communication platforms such as WorkJam, WorkVivo, Viva Engage.
