JOB DESCRIPTION
Wood is recruiting for a P&ID Designer to join its Iraq business unit focusing on preparing, updating, and maintaining Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) in alignment with company engineering standards and drafting practices on 5/2 work schedule (5 days on/2 days off).
This role is a full-time on-site role in Basra, Iraq.

Key Objectives:
- Prepare, update, and maintain Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) in alignment with company engineering standards and drafting practices.
- Perform field walkdowns to verify equipment, piping, and instrumentation, capture discrepancies, and develop accurate redline updates.
- Convert redline/as‑built information, engineering markups, and MOC comments into finalized P&ID drawings with minimal supervision.
- Ensure all P&IDs accurately reflect equipment tags, line numbers, valve types, instrumentation, and ISA‑compliant symbols.
- Develop simple to complex P&ID drawings from engineering inputs, sketches, or existing design packages.
- Coordinate with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to resolve drawing inconsistencies and capture required updates.
- Manage P&ID revisions and drawing versions through the company document management system (e.g., Aconex), ensuring proper control and traceability.
- Ensure P&IDs remain aligned with design intent, process changes, and plant modifications.
- Provide technical support during audits, reviews, and verification activities by supplying accurate P&ID documentation.
- Maintain adherence to quality standards, drafting discipline, and proper documentation workflows.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with stakeholders involved in design, field verification, and document updates.
QUALIFICATIONS

Expected:
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Mechanical, Instrumentation, Process Engineering, or related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in oil & gas drafting focusing on P&IDs, field verification, and as‑built updates.
- Strong understanding of ISA symbols, P&ID standards, and process/ instrumentation design basics.
- Willing to spend time in the plant for field walkdowns and drawing verification.
Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Good communication skills and clear English writing/speaking (Arabic beneficial).
- High proficiency in interpreting P&IDs, equipment tags, and instrumentation details.
- Strong AutoCAD skills and experience with redline/as‑built workflows.
- Good teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and quality-focused drafting approach.
- Solid computer skills (MS Office, PDF markup tools, document control platforms).
Systems:
- Familiarity or experience with:
- Aconex or similar document management systems
- Work management systems (e.g., SAP PM, Maximo)
- Integrity/engineering documentation systems (as‑built databases, P&ID libraries)
