Are you ready to take the next step in your offshore engineering career? We are looking for an experienced 2nd Engineer to join a Cable Laying Vessel operating in the United States. If you have solid technical skills and a proactive mindset, this could be the ideal role for you.

Function description

We are currently seeking a competent 2nd Engineer to join a Cable Laying Vessel project in the United States, with an expected joining date approximately middle of April. As the 2nd Engineer, you will support the Chief Engineer in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all onboard engineering systems. You will play a key role in daily engine room operations, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and supporting equipment used during subsea cable installation and repair. This position requires strong technical awareness, hands‑on problem‑solving skills, and the ability to work in a 24/7 offshore operational environment.

Responsibilities:

• Assist the Chief Engineer in managing and maintaining all mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems onboard, including propulsion, generators, and auxiliary equipment.
• Monitor and operate machinery supporting offshore cable‑laying operations.
• Carry out routine inspections, scheduled maintenance, and troubleshooting tasks to ensure continuous and safe engine room performance.
• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety standards, international maritime regulations and company procedures.
• Supervise engine ratings during watchkeeping duties and ensure proper functioning of all systems during DP and cable operations.
• Report promptly to the Chief Engineer regarding machinery defects, performance deviations, or operational issues.

Requirements

Requirements:

• Valid 2nd Engineer Certificate of Competency.
• Experience on on Cable Laying Vessels .
• BOSIET + CA-EBS certification.
• US B1 Visa with wind annotation.
• Relevant Offshore and Engineering certificates.
• Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
