Role Synopsis

The trading teams within ST&S RPTE are one of three regional Performance Units in ST&S. They are responsible for marketing BP's exploration production across the region, sourcing crude for BP refineries, trading on behalf of associates, and supporting refinery assets to maximise commercial performance.

Operations play a critical role in Supply & Trading. Within RPTE, this includes physical operations, paper operations, and refinery coordination across a broad geographical area, engaging with diverse cultures and disciplines. The Operations organisation consists of several sub‑teams: Trading Operations, Voyage Operations, Cargo Assurance, Documentation Administration, Inventory Analysts, and Shipping Coordination.

Operations ensure the end‑to‑end process runs smoothly by providing technical expertise and ensuring accurate, timely data flow. The team manages deal logistics to BP's best commercial advantage while meeting all contractual and Group assurance obligations.

As part of the Operations Extended Leadership Team, the Trading Operations Technical Leader ensures smooth, compliant, and high‑quality operations within their trading operations bench, while managing key relationships across front office, functions, and regional teams.

  • Support and, where required, lead continuous improvement initiatives and digital projects across operations.
  • Provide technical input to support trading strategy and maximise value.
  • Contribute operational insight to new business activity (including NAI's) through regular engagement with front office and functional teams.

Governance & Compliance

  • Encourage a strong speak‑up culture for COLT events, ensuring timely escalation and proper documentation using the Five Whys methodology.
