Retail People Relations (RPR) is a globally connected team within People, Communications & Culture.
We play a key role in shaping positive workplace experiences, through delivering trusted People Relations (PR) expertise across bp's company owned retail network in Australia and New Zealand
We work closely with business leaders, group people relations, legal and external stakeholders to provide consistent, high-quality guidance on high complexity People Relations matters.
About the Role
As a Retail People Relations Advisor, you will offer clear, confident, and caring PR support to our retail network across Australia and New Zealand. From absence management and performance issues to disciplinary matters and investigations, you'll be on hand to provide guidance on all things people related.
Please note that this is a twelve month, fixed term contract, based in our Docklands office in Melbourne.

As a Retail People Relations Advisor, you will offer clear, confident, and caring PR support to our retail network across Australia and New Zealand. From absence management and performance issues to disciplinary matters and investigations, you'll be on hand to provide guidance on all things people related.

Key Responsibilities
- Managing and advising on a range of PR cases - grievances, disciplinaries, bullying, harassment, whistleblowing and more.
- Leading investigations that are thorough, balanced, impartial and evidence-based.
- Building strong, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders across both Australia and New Zealand.
- Proactively identifying and executing opportunities to enhance processes and build line leader capability.
- Drafting high-quality, accurate PR documentation such as invite letters, outcome letters, and investigation reports.
- Supporting our store, business and market managers through various business change exercises.
- Staying up to date with internal policies and external legislation to ensure the delivery of high‑quality advice.
What we're looking for
- Tertiary qualifications (desirable).
- Proven experience in providing frontline P&C support in a large, preferably unionised organisation (desirable).
- Working understanding of Fair Work Act (AU) and/or Employment Relations Act (NZ).
- Exceptional stakeholder and relationship management skills, with a track record of partnering effectively across operational and corporate teams.
- Demonstrates a strong risk mindset, with the ability to navigate legal, wellbeing, psychosocial and reputational considerations effectively.
- Ability to represent bp professionally and confidently in external conciliation and mediation processes.
- Experience in leading on multiple disciplinary processes and handling a range of PR issues .
- Excellent written and communication skills as well as interpersonal skills.
- Highly organised with a strong attention to detail.
- Team focused - delivering clear and timely support.
