Job Description Summary

The Lead Engineer - Repair Development is responsible for repair development of Aircraft Jet Engine components at GE Aerospace Bangalore Engineering Center.

This job requires developing and industrializing repair and inspection technologies, including process qualification, implementation, and delivery of new and updated processes to repair facilities. It requires applying in-depth technical expertise and a strong understanding of key business drivers to execute policy and strategy and ensure effective integration with other teams. The role demands sound engineering judgment, analytical skills, and operating as an individual contributor or early people leader, providing informal guidance to new team members and helping build team capability.

Established in 2000, the John F. Welch Technology Center (JFWTC) in Bengaluru is GE Aerospace's multidisciplinary research and engineering center. Pushing the boundaries of innovation every day, engineers and scientists at JFWTC have contributed to hundreds of aviation patents, pioneering breakthroughs in engine technologies, advanced materials, and additive manufacturing

Role Overview:
  • Development of repair and inspection technologies, process qualification, industrialization. Related program deliverables to repair facilities for new and updated processes.
  • Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.
  • In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
  • Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.


Required Qualifications:
  • B. Tech/ MTech (Master of Technology)/ MS (Master of Science) in Mechanical / Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical design and repair of gas turbine components
