Mission and Scope

This opportunity is located in Canberra.

The End User Compute (EUC) Engineer is responsible for the support, maintenance, and continuous improvement of endpoint and server environments across client ICT systems. This role ensures that users have secure, reliable, and performant access to computing resources by managing endpoint configurations, server infrastructure, application packaging and patch compliance.

Operating under the direction of the Service Delivery Manager (SDM), the EUC Engineer works closely with both infrastructure and service delivery teams to support platforms such as MECM, WSUS and MDT. This position involves hands-on support, advanced troubleshooting, system optimisation and adherence to best practices in user device management and standard operating environment (SOE) design.

Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of the role will include, but are not limited to:

Service Operations
  • Provide day-to-day sustainment of EUC platform services.
  • Monitor and maintain endpoint performance, patch compliance, and availability.
  • Administer EUC services across several government networks with varying sizes and classifications.
  • Respond to and resolve incidents and service requests.
  • Work within SHIs and in alignment with SOW-defined service boundaries.

Incident & Change Management
  • Act as a primary escalation point for complex EUC-related incidents and problems.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Plan, test and implement changes in accordance with established change management processes.
  • Participate in change advisory board (CAB) meetings where required, ensuring EUC-related changes are risk-assessed and documented.
  • Ensure changes are rolled out with minimal user disruption and in line with service level expectations.

SOE & Endpoint Management
  • Maintain and enhance Standard Operating Environment (SOE) images for desktops and servers using tools such as MDT and SCCM.
  • Manage and deploy operating system updates, security patches and configuration baselines.
  • Ensure consistent application of group policies and compliance with configuration standards.

Application Packaging & Deployment
  • Package, test, and deploy applications to endpoints and servers using SCCM and/or Tanium.
  • Manage application updates, version control, and compatibility with the SOE.
  • Liaise with application owners and business stakeholders to ensure successful packaging and deployment of new applications.

User File Storage & Profile Management
  • Support enterprise user file storage solutions and ensure availability and recoverability of user data.
  • Implement and maintain profile management and redirection solutions.
  • Support migration and consolidation of user data during SOE refreshes or system transitions.

Incident Response & Crisis Management
  • Act as an escalation point for technical ICT incident, working closely with internal teams and external partners to restore services quickly and effectively.
  • Participate in post-incident reviews to analyse root causes and implement preventive measures.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Essential:
  • 3+ years' experience in an EUC, Desktop Engineering or Systems Administration role.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting:
    • Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (or equivalent VDI platforms).
    • Endpoint management via SCCM, Tanium or similar platforms.
    • SOE development and management with MDT or other imaging tools.
  • Proven experience with application packaging, deployment and lifecycle management.
  • Strong understanding of patch management, user file storage solutions and folder redirection.
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, Windows 10/11 desktop operating systems.
  • NV1 Security clearance (with the ability to upgrade to NV2).
  • ITIL V3/4 Foundation Certification.

Desirable:
  • Certifications in Microsoft technologies (MD-102, MS-101), Citrix (CCA-V or higher) or Tanium.
  • Working knowledge of Linux OS (RHEL 7/8/9).
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting for automation of EUC tasks.
  • Background supporting secure or classified environments with compliance requirements.
  • Experience in environments with high-volume or enterprise endpoint deployments.

Soft Skills:
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, particularly in diagnosing user environment issues.
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
  • Customer-centric mindset with a focus on delivering a seamless end user experience.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and support multiple environments simultaneously.
  • Strong teamwork, adaptability and willingness to continuously learn new tools and technologies.
