The role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Junior Architectural Engineer to join our Iraq Business Unit.

Wood has been awarded a general engineering contract to support an International Client operator to deliver a portfolio of onshore capital projects by provision of engineering and project management services (including EPC contract management), as well as Supply Chain, Construction and Commissioning support from Wood Iraq and UAE offices.

Projects include both Greenfield and Brownfield modification projects and integrating low-carbon solutions to support our client's energy transition and emissions reduction goals.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in preparing architectural designs, drawings, and specifications under supervision
  • Support the coordination of architectural designs with structural, mechanical, and electrical systems
  • Participate in project design reviews, ensuring compliance with building codes, sustainability requirements, and safety standards
  • Conduct site visits and assist in preparing site reports, documenting progress, and highlighting design-related issues
  • Research materials, construction methods, and industry innovations to support design decisions
  • Work collaboratively with architects, engineers, and project managers across various disciplines
  • Prepare presentations, reports, and technical documentation for internal and client use
  • Support the development and implementation of BIM (Building Information Modelling) and CAD standards

Expected:
  • Bachelor's degree in architectural engineering (or Civil Engineering)
  • Knowledge of building codes, standards, and sustainable design principles
  • Proficiency in design and drafting software (AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, SketchUp, etc.)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Eagerness to learn, adapt, and develop professional expertise
