Job Description
3rd Engineer for Dredger
Responsibilities
Assist the Chief Engineer and Second Engineer in safe operation, maintenance, and repair of all engine room machinery on board the dredger.
Carry out engine room watchkeeping duties as per STCW, company procedures, and vessel operational requirements.
Operate, monitor, and maintain auxiliary engines, generators, pumps, compressors, separators, and hydraulic systems related to dredging equipment.
Execute Planned Maintenance System (PMS) tasks and ensure timely reporting of defects and breakdowns.
Maintain engine room logbooks, maintenance records, checklists, and inventory of spares and consumables.
Monitor fuel oil, lubricating oil, cooling water, and ballast systems; assist in bunkering operations and fuel changeover procedures.
Ensure compliance with ISM Code, MARPOL, SOLAS, and company safety and environmental policies.
Participate in emergency drills, breakdown troubleshooting, and fault rectification during dredging operations and port stays.
Assist during dry dock, surveys, inspections, and audits by flag state, class, and port authorities.
Promote a safe working culture by adhering to toolbox talks, risk assessments, and permit-to-work systems.
Coordinate with deck and dredging teams to support uninterrupted dredging operations.
Qualifications
Hold valid STCW certification, 3rd Engineer CoC, medical fitness, and experience on dredgers.
