Short Description

The Offline Hydrographic Surveyor is responsible for the onboard management, quality control, and processing of all acquired survey data. This includes, but is not limited to, hydrographic and bathymetric datasets. The role also encompasses the generation of detailed charts and reports derived from the processed data.

Function Description

As an Offline Hydrographic Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing and processing large amounts of survey data collected from underwater environments. Your primary goal is to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the data, and to prepare detailed reports and charts for analysis in a timely manner. This position requires travel and will work a schedule of four weeks on followed by four weeks off.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Inspect the quality of raw data as soon as it becomes available and notify Online Surveyor if not suitable for processing

- Assist in the preparation of technical reports and production of data for delivery within stated deadlines to a high standard

- Management of time to prioritize processing tasks to meet project requirements and deadlines

- QC dataset at each stage of processing sequence to ensure data integrity

- Discuss requirements and final deliverables with Survey Party Chief on a regular basis to ensure process workflow is fit for purpose

- Adhere to company data management policy, ensure all processed data is backed up on both daily and weekly basis

- Create/amend charts if requirement of project including creation of project templates

- Prepare technical reports and production of data for delivery within stated deadlines to a high standard

- Keep processing logs up to date and record offsets used during processing

- Additional duties as assigned

Requirements

- Bachelors degree in Engineering

- Prefer Hydrographer (4 years Experience), IMCA Certified Surveyor, military experience, BSEE, or BSCE

- Proficiency in using hydrographic data processing software (e.g., EIVA, Caris, Qimera)

- Valid Offshore Physical (OEUK or similar)

- BOSIET (Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training)

- Military (4 years preferably GIS but also electronics and communications), BSEE (One Year experience), BSCE (One year experience)

- Qualification in an appropriate engineering or IT related subject or appropriate technical/military experience and qualifications.

- Must be a US Citizen

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Attention to detail and high level of precision.

- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

- Knowledge and experience in GIS and SSDM will be an advantage

- Process, interpret, and monitor survey data within a supervised project environment.

- Assist Survey Party Chief with the execution of given work and tasks

- Use and interpret data acquisition equipment.

- Manage and carry out specific tasks as requested by Survey Party Chief or Offshore Construction Manager

- Assists new and current employees in performing their work in accordance with safe work procedures.

- Trains and adheres to client company's specific requirements.

- Good understanding of online navigation and data logging systems.

- The ability to use data storage structures

- Implement and monitor a data and report quality control system

- Advanced computer aided drafting skills for charting.

- Previous experience in hydrographic data processing or a related field, experience on subsea rock installation vessels is preferred.
