Job Purpose

The Field Mechanical Inspector is responsible for supervision and quality assurance of Pressure Safety Valve (PSV) inspection and testing in the mechanical valve workshop, incoming material inspection, and establishing/documenting material traceability procedures.

The role also provides backup QA/QC inspection support for construction, maintenance, and shutdown activities when full coverage is not available. This role directly supports:
  • Asset Integrity Assurance
  • Compliance with API / ASME mechanical standards
  • Reliability of safety-critical mechanical equipment
  • Prevention of failures and process disruptions


Job Responsibilities

  • PSV (Pressure Safety Valve) Inspection & Workshop Activities
  • Witness and supervise PSV disassembly, cleaning, inspection, lapping, overhaul and reassembly.
  • Verify As-received results, as-left results, seat tightness result, set pressure, reseat pressure in accordance with approved standards.
  • Verify Tag number, serial number, manufacturer, model, orifice, inlet, outlet rating, service, set pressure, blowdown setting, test medium
  • Verify spare parts used, spring condition, nozzle/orifice condition, and sealing surfaces.
  • Ensure workshop equipment calibration (test bench, gauges, torque tools).
  • Review contractor/in-house maintenance activities in valve workshop.
  • Incoming Material Inspection
  • Perform inspection of incoming materials including:
    • Piping materials
    • Structural steel
    • Mechanical equipment
    • Fasteners, gaskets, flanges
    • Coating & insulation materials (if required)
  • Verify marking, grade, stamping, and identification against PO, MTC, Conduct PMI and project specification.
  • Conduct dimensional checks and visual inspection of damages.
  • Reject and quarantine non-compliant materials.
  • Material Traceability System Development
  • Work with Integrity, Warehousing, Procurement & another stakeholder to establish:
    • Traceability numbering system
    • Heat number/lot number control
    • Material receiving checklists
    • Traceability forms for all mechanical work
  • Create and maintain a Material Traceability Register integrated with the company's IMS.
  • Provide Support to Field Inspection & QA/QC Engineer
  • Support inspection of:
    • T&I Inspection
    • NDT inspection activities
    • Welding and fabrication
    • Hydrotesting / pneumatic testing
  • Participate in ad-hoc or emergency inspections (leaks, failures, material defects).
  • Provide QA/QC coverage when the team has manpower gaps.
  • Daily Reporting & Documentation
  • Prepare daily inspection reports (PSV, material receiving, QC activities).
  • Verify and review vendor/contractor deliverables (ITPs, MS, calibration certificates, test records).
  • Maintain digital records in the Integrity Management System (IMS).
  • Ensure PSV inspection checklists and tagging are updated and maintained.


Education

Qualification Requirements
  • Higher Professional Education (Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification
  • Experience in the field of inspections.
  • It is preferable to have candidate with international certificate such as API, CSWIP
  • Candidate should have relevant experience in oil and gas industry in any aspect related to mechanical inspection. It is preferable that candidate have experience in Inspection Company.
  • Knowledge of onshore/offshore oil & gas operations & HSE
