Job Purpose

The Field Coating Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all surface preparation, coating application, and lining works executed by in-house construction, maintenance teams and external contractors fully comply with:
  • Approved Project Specifications
  • International Standards
  • Company Integrity Requirements
  • HSE Rules
  • Quality Control Procedures

The role directly supports:
  • Corrosion control
  • Asset life extension
  • Failure prevention
  • Reduction of maintenance and structural repair costs


Job Responsibilities

The Field Coating Inspector shall perform the following duties on site:
  • Conduct daily inspection of:
  • Surface preparation activities (abrasive blasting, power tool cleaning, water jetting)
  • Coating application activities for steel structures, piping, vessels and tanks
  • Verify surface cleanliness and preparation grades in accordance with approved standards
  • Measure and record:
  • Ambient weather conditions (temperature, relative humidity, dew point)
  • Surface profile depth
  • Wet Film Thickness (WFT)
  • Dry Film Thickness (DFT)
  • Conduct and witness:
  • Adhesion (pull-off) tests
  • Holiday / spark testing
  • Mixing ratios, thinning, pot life and batch control of coatings
  • Inter-coat cleanliness and recoat intervals
  • Monitor curing, handling, storage and transportation of coated items
  • Maintain daily coating inspection logs and photographic records
  • Attend daily site meetings, toolbox talks and coordination meetings
  • Supervise coating works executed by:
  • In-house Construction & Maintenance teams
  • Third-party contractors


Education

Qualification Requirements:
  • Higher Professional Education (Diploma or degree in Engineering or equivalent technical qualification)
  • Experience in the field of inspections.
  • Candidate should have relevant experience in oil and gas industry in any aspect related to Coating, corrosion protection and corrosion monitoring. It is mandatory to have AMPP, NACE or CSWIP BGAS certificate.
  • The Candidate should have experience in relevant field.
  • Knowledge of onshore/offshore oil & gas operations & HSE.
  • Must be medically & physically fit to stay and work at offshore conditions, able to climb, bend and work in confined space with appropriate personnel protective equipment's.
  • Good written and communication skills in English to be able to discuss and coordinate with various disciplines including Integrity, Construction, Operations, Logistics & Field Engineering etc.
  • Conversant with various corrosion related codes, standards & procedures like NACE, API, and ASTM etc.
