Overview
The Systems Engineer plays a critical role in the design, integration, testing, and validation of complex rail systems, including signaling, communications, power, and rolling stock interfaces. This role ensures that all subsystems work together seamlessly to meet safety, performance, and regulatory requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
Your role
- Develop and manage system requirements, specifications, and interface definitions.
- Coordinate integration of subsystems (e.g., signaling, SCADA, telecom, traction power) into a cohesive rail system.
- Support system architecture design and ensure compliance with applicable standards and client requirements.
- Conduct system-level analysis, modeling, and simulations to validate performance and safety.
- Participate in design reviews, hazard analysis, and risk assessments.
- Support testing and commissioning activities, including system integration testing and acceptance.
- Liaise with multidisciplinary teams including civil, electrical, mechanical, and software engineers.
- Ensure traceability of requirements through the V-model or similar systems engineering frameworks.
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations for stakeholders.
- Assist in resolving technical issues during design, construction, and commissioning phase
About you
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related field.
- 3-7 years of experience in systems engineering, preferably in rail or transportation projects.
- Familiarity with rail systems such as CBTC, ETCS, PTC, or conventional signaling.
- Experience with systems engineering tools such as DOORS NG,MBSE Tools such as IBM Rhapsody and Sparx Enterprise Architect
- Experience with practical application of System Engineering processes and EN 15288 standard - developing, documenting and evidencing systems integration activities across the complete asset / project lifecycle.
- Knowledge of international standards (e.g., ISO/IEC 15288, EN50126/8/9, INCOSE, IEC 61508).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
- INCOSE certification or equivalent systems engineering training.
- MBSE Tools such as IBM Rhapsody
- Experience with RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Safety) analysis.
- Understanding of cybersecurity in rail systems.
- Experience working on large-scale infrastructure or metro projects.
