Job Description:
This role ensures that all workers' compensation claims are managed in full compliance with regulatory requirements across SA, QLD, NT, ACT, and New Zealand, as well as the self‑insurance obligations specific to VIC, WA, and NSW. It provides technical guidance and direction to key bp stakeholders-including claimants, leaders, and People & Culture-to support optimal claims management outcomes and consistent adherence to jurisdictional standards.
In addition, the role offers subject matter expertise and analytical insights to bp businesses and HSE&C teams, helping identify injury trends and opportunities for enhanced prevention and risk mitigation. It also manages relationships with third‑party providers such as legal, medical, rehabilitation partners, and insurers to drive effective claim outcomes while maintaining compliance with bp's workers' compensation requirements. Oversight of early intervention service provider relationships and program management is also undertaken as needed to support proactive injury management.

Job Responsibilities
- Provide oversight and governance of the management of all workers' compensation claims in both premium paying and self-insured jurisdictions to ensure:
- Claims strategies are designed to achieve optimum and sustainable outcomes- including the use of medico/ legal providers as required
- Regulatory and license requirements are being met and protect bp's interests (inc. data management, third party payments, payment of weekly benefits, privacy)
- Issues raised by claimants are escalated & addressed effectively, confidentially & in a timely manner.
- Oversee the case management of claims managed by bp, insurers, agents or Regulators to drive optimal outcomes.
- Maintain and continuously improve workers compensation and injury management systems and procedures across ANZ in line with jurisdiction specific requirements to drive simplicity, efficiency and outcomes.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key business stakeholders to assist claims/ injury management processes, including the provision of advice, notification of responsibilities and meaningful reporting.
- Provide analysis and insights of claims data to the Health Hub Lead, businesses, and HSE&C teams to provide opportunities for continuous improvement in injury prevention, management and claims management approaches.
- Provide expertise across BP in ANZ through maintaining knowledge of changes in legislation, Codes of Practice and standards relevant to workers compensation in ANZ
- Represent bp where applicable on advisory committees, self-insurance associations and other group forums internally and externally pertaining to injury management.
- Support the Health Hub lead through the generation of reports to meet self-insurance requirements to ensure the effectiveness of existing insurance arrangements.
What you will need to be successful
- Relevant experience in workers compensation insurance- with self-insurance experience included.
- Comprehensive understanding of the workers' compensation acts in the majority of jurisdictions across ANZ.
- Strong interpersonal skills as well as excellent organization competency
- Basic Word and Excel skills, with a working knowledge of SOLV is ideal.
- Collaboration and influencing skills across a range of stakeholders.
- Managing cost budgets across multiple stakeholders.
