Overview

The GIS Specialist will be responsible for managing, analysing, and visualizing geospatial data to support planning, design, and infrastructure projects. This role requires strong GIS expertise, attention to detail, and close collaboration with engineers, planners, and project teams to ensure spatial data accuracy and alignment with project requirements.

Your role

• Develop, manage, and update geospatial datasets, maps, and spatial models for infrastructure, environmental, and development projects.
• Analyse spatial data to support decision-making and project planning.
• Produce high-quality maps, charts, and visualizations using GIS software.
• Integrate survey data, satellite imagery, drone data, and CAD files into GIS databases.
• Collaborate with engineers, planners, and project managers to ensure data accuracy and usability.
• Conduct spatial analysis such as proximity studies, network analysis, terrain modeling, and suitability assessments.
• Maintain geodatabases, metadata, and project documentation.
• Ensure compliance with relevant data standards, coordinate systems, and accuracy requirements.
• Support field teams by preparing GPS data, mobile data-collection apps, and data validation.
• Provide GIS-related technical support throughout project execution, resolving any geospatial issues.

About you

• Diploma/Degree in Geography, Geomatics, GIS, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
• Proficiency in GIS software such as ArcGIS, ArcGIS Pro, QGIS; knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or FME is a plus.
• Strong understanding of coordinate systems, projections, geospatial data formats, and spatial analysis methods.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, survey data, remote-sensing imagery, and spatial datasets.
• Experience in infrastructure, urban planning, utilities, or environmental projects.
• High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities for multidisciplinary collaboration.
• Effective time management for handling multiple tasks and project deadlines.
• Proficiency in MS Office for reporting and documentation.
