Being part of the Solutions and Projects Data & AI digital delivery data group, you will apply your domain knowledge and familiarity with domain data processes to support the Technology Digital Delivery Production and Operations business. Part of bp's Production & Operations business, Solutions and Projects has hubs in London, Pune, and Houston. The team provides daily operational data management, data engineering and analytics support to this organisation across a broad range of disciplines!
About the role
The Data Steward applies practitioner level knowledge of a business domain to curate and validate accuracy and security of our data which is required to drive compliance, safety and business critical decision making. They will be implementing technical changes and controls across systems of record, working with source and Data Engineering teams to help transport, transform and integrate data into key software packages for our customers consumer usage! Expected to implement the data quality standards and set requirements to populate systems of record, including Input quality checks on received data and providing technical insights into treating, remediating and maintaining data definitions incl data dictionaries.
What you will deliver
• Act as a custodian ofend-to-end data configuration quality checks validating data integrity, consistency, and compliance across the organization, prioritizing safety and operational efficiency for the business.
• Provide input to help develop, amend, and implement data governance policies, standards, and regulations; participate in improvement of these based on business need.
• Assess, report on and resolve data quality issues through root cause analysis and remediation planning. Ensure that data, documents and models represent the physical reality of our assets.
• Responsible for assuring data requirements are followed to populate systems of record and transpose data between package software,including Input quality checks on received data to assure completeness.
• Work closely with team engineers, data engineers, system engineers, and business analysts to ensure high-quality, standardized data.
• Support business users by providing mentorship on issue resolution, data quality, data usage, permissions/access needs, and policies.
• Implement technical changes and controls across systems of record and communicate planned changes to the data owners
• Assist in metadata management, ensuring all critical datasets are accurately gained.
• Facilitate teamwork between business and technology teams to improve data literacy and governance.
• Support regulatory and compliance efforts related to data privacy, security, and access control.
What you will need to be successful (experience and qualifications)
Essential:
• Bachelor's degree ineither Petroleum, Process Engineeringor equivalent oil & gas experience
• 2+ years' experience working in Oil & Gas
• Good understanding of data governance frameworks, master data management principles, policies, and compliance.
• Ability to work with business rigor engineers and technical teams to resolve data quality issues.
• Superb communication and documentation skills
• Analytical approach with a proven focus on data accuracy and process improvement
Desired:
Proficiency in SQL, Python, Juypter notebook and capability to work with large datasets.
• Familiarity with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Experience with data governance tools.
• 2+ years' of experience working in Palantir products.
