Contract: Short-term commission (approx. 35 hours total)
Location: Chelsea
Start Date: March onwards

A contemporary funeral directing practice seeking to collaborate with a Fine Artist to create a bespoke, hand-drawn coffin design. The organisation is design-conscious and committed to delivering elegant, meaningful and thoughtfully crafted farewells. We are looking to commission a Fine Art practitioner with strong hand-drawing skills to design and execute an original floral artwork for a coffin.

Design direction:

• Floral theme
• Indigenous (non-exotic) flowers
• Aesthetic to be classy yet fresh
• Elegant, beautiful and evocative in tone
• Sensitive and refined in execution

The finished piece should feel timeless and considered, bringing warmth and artistry to a significant commemorative object.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop initial hand-drawn design concepts in response to the brief
• Liaise with the organisation to refine and finalise the chosen design
• Execute the final artwork to a high professional standard
• Deliver within agreed timeframe (approximately 25 hours total)

Personal Specification

Essential:

• Fine Art background (degree-level or equivalent experience)
• Demonstrable expertise in hand drawing
• Strong observational and botanical drawing skills
• Excellent attention to detail and craftsmanship
• Ability to interpret a brief with emotional sensitivity

Desirable:

• Experience working on commissioned artwork
• Interest in design for meaningful or ceremonial contexts
