Technical:
- Complete knowledge of domain knowledge in Building Design projects including multi-discipline coordination and dependencies.
- Complete knowledge of deliverables information; building regulations and other technical documents; Accountable for multi-discipline coordination and completeness of stage deliverables.
- Accountable for compliance to agreed Scope of Work for all disciplines involved.
- Ability to supervise all disciplines including sub-consultants and be responsible for reviewing the technical accuracy of the deliverables.
- Awareness of global codes, standards, and practices applied to the projects being delivered.
- Recognized expertise in one or more subject areas within their discipline. Expected to act as a reviewer for low technical risk projects within their discipline.
- Produces clear, concise reports that are submitted for approval, right the first time
- Able to take a technical lead role in areas of expertise on small or medium-scale projects.
- Offers up new ideas, solutions, and processes and sees them through to completion
Documentation & Process Knowledge:
- Full understanding of Design Stages of Work CD/SD/DD and ability to break down deliverables in stages
- A key performer in inter-disciplinary coordination. Ability to cross-check the design/ scheme for compliance and verify Sub-consultants' information and deliverables.
- Ability to liaise with clients and contractors to design as per the client's brief in compliance with the local planning policy guidelines and recommendations of statutory authority.
- Ability to manage techno commercial processes of technical deliverables/stage deliverables and close query loops in the most efficient way.
- Enhances skills in the latest technologies/software to augment existing knowledge and ability to leverage the same to streamline the project and time/cost-saving measures.
- Monitors projects' technical progress.
- Questions and challenges conventional work methodology.
- Actively seeks out colleagues and clients to establish their technical requirements.
Project Administration:
- Responsible for the preparation, update, and tracking of the scope of work/deliverables based on the agreed contract.
- Responsible for preparation of granular design program and technical road maps; and updating them on regular basis.
- Responsible for facilitating multi-D coordination process
- Chairing all design coordination meetings.
- Able to present the team's technical work on the project to the clients.
- Prepare/assist in project governance documents including project execution plan, design management plan, communication plan, the project set up, quality set up, risk register, change log, issue log, etc.
- Responsible for setting up/assisting setup of the project.
- Conversant on the financial aspects of their project and estimates pricing/timing associated with a range of expertise.
- Responsible for arranging Kick Off Meetings and regular design meetings along with stage approval workshops with key stakeholders/client representatives.
- Understands and briefs the team about the scope of work. Ability to understand and analyze the design to develop/ detail and deliver the project.
- Responsible for managing timely delivery of information to the multi-D team and ensuring to remove roadblocks due to lack of information.
- An ideal candidate should possess a good understanding of types of tender and contracts. Ability to foresee any risks and highlights the same to the client and consultants.
Project Tools:
- REVIT: Support less experienced users, manage work sets, and guide project setup.
- BIM360 Construction Cloud: Awareness of the BIM workflow and BIM360 Common Data Enviorment
- Advance level of knowledge of project reporting softwares
- Good knowledge of Navisworks for clash detection, navigation, report generation
- Awareness of AutoCAD. Sketchup and other design softwares to assess and challenge design teams.
- ARCHITECTURE CONSTRUCTION & TECHNOLOGY:
- Advanced knowledge of the sequence of the construction and the usage of different elements within the framework and is competent with the technical terms of building elements. Demonstrates good coordination ability to address the needs and requirements of other disciplines.
- Ability to check the inputs from the team and other involved disciplines and be able to suggest alternatives to the consultants or clients.
- Competent understanding of the range of materials and their material properties. The candidate should have advanced understanding of the application of these materials (e.g., bituminous materials, liquid applied components, etc.) and ability to suggest materials as alternatives to the client and consultants. Ability to educate the junior grades via formal or informal means.
- Aware of construction details in accordance with the selected materials. Should have updates and awareness of new materials available in the market.
- Ability to take into account statutory, site, design constraints and able to mentor the team to design with respect to these constraints.
- Good understanding of the sequence of the construction and the usage of different elements within the framework and is aware of the technical terms of building elements. Is competent in understanding the requirements of other disciplines. Ability to assist seniors in the process. Continues to develop knowledge of drawn information through the progression of project work.
- Has good knowledge of range of materials and their varied usages in construction. Takes initiative to carry out research on the materials and is enthusiastic to learn and explore the materials under minimal supervision of seniors. Continues to develop knowledge of materials through progression of project work.
- Have general awareness of technical specifications skills in the domain to prepare, review and challenge the spec's document generated within the team and from sub-consultants.
General:
- Checks the drawing with respect to its orientation and information content. Provides guidance and able to check the information, independently markup drawings for the junior team to produce the deliverables. Coordinates the Multi-D requirements. Is aware of compliances of regulatory authorities. Competent in checking the information to comply with the approved documents
- Prepares and delivers technical training locally under direction from the Professionsal Head of Department (PHoD).
- Leads by example and trains juniors on CDM, Safe by Design principles and Atkins' BMS procedures
- Shares lessons learnt and best practices. Leads knowledge sharing sessions with practice proactively as requested by PHoD
- Leads by example for Continuous Professional Development (CPD) events. Reviews team's commitment on CPDs and other objectives during Professional Development Review (PDR) cycle througt out the year.
