Wood is recruiting a Technical Safety Engineer with relevant experience in Brownfields Oil & Gas projects to support the Operations APAC (West) business. Based in Perth CBD, this is a full-time contractor role, supporting major players in the Oil & Gas industry.

In this role, you will be reporting directly to the Lead Technical Safety Engineer and Project Engineering Manager and be working across a range of engineering projects at various phases including: - concept identification, selection and definition, FEED, detailed design/execute, commissioning and start-up, as-building, and closeout, for timely delivery according to approved schedules. Your focus will be on:

QUALIFICATIONS
To be considered for this opportunity, ideally, you will hold full work rights to be able to work lawfully in this Australian location. Those with visa applications in progress are also encouraged to apply.
You will be suitably qualified with an Engineering degree from a recognised institution, and ideally you will have relevant experience in safety engineering for petroleum production or processing facilities within Australia or preferably on brownfield projects for hydrocarbon processing facilities.

- performing formal safety assessment (FSA) studies
- providing support for risk-based decision-making,
- applying knowledge of safety in design principles to the design/modification of petroleum production/processing facilities
- ensuring compliance with safety regulations in all aspects of process safety design

- 4+ or more years of experience in formal safety assessment (FSA) studies, risk-based decision-making and the design/specification of safety-critical equipment and systems
- Knowledge of safety regulations and applicable industry codes / standards
- Excellent report writing and oral communication skills
- Strong analytical and numerical skills
- Proven ability to work effectively within a team environment
- Demonstrated experience in supporting and mentoring junior colleagues.
- A "solutions mindset" and able to manage varying tasks with often changing and competing priorities
