We are looking for Senior Drilling Engineering Discipline Manager to join our team in Baku, Azerbaijan!

As the Senior Drilling Engineering DM you will lead and oversee all drilling engineering activities for AGT (Azerbaijan, ensuring operational excellence, safety, and efficiency across all projects.

You will be responsible for setting technical standards, driving continuous improvement, and managing a team of drilling engineers to deliver safe and cost-effective well construction and intervention solutions.

Please note that the role is open for Azerbaijani citizens only.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain best practices for drilling engineering operations, including casing and wellhead recovery, completions and interventions, side-track operations, and well barrier design.
  • Lead the application of the common process for wells activation, ensuring adherence to established procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide expert guidance and technical leadership in advanced drilling techniques such as Managed Pressure Drilling.
  • Oversee the management of change process for drilling activities, ensuring all modifications are properly assessed, approved, and implemented.
  • Establish and manage robust monitoring and maintenance programs for drilling equipment and processes to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Direct and supervise rig and vessel intake and startup procedures, ensuring all pre-operations checks and certifications are completed.
  • Manage and optimize rig and vessel operations, focusing on efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Implement and champion comprehensive Risk Management strategies for all drilling operations, identifying potential hazards and developing mitigation plans.
  • Drive continuous improvement in supplier performance management related to drilling services and equipment.
  • Ensure the integrity and proper functioning of surface wellheads and xmas trees through effective design, installation, and maintenance.
  • Oversee tubular handling and installation procedures, ensuring safety and compliance with industry standards.
  • Provide leadership and expertise in well control procedures and emergency response planning, ensuring the highest standards of safety are met.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop a team of drilling engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.

In this role, we have the following requirements

Essential skills and experience:

  • At least 15 years of experience the oil and gas industry, preferably with deepwater or complex well experience.
  • Extensive international experience in a senior drilling engineering role
  • Proven track record of strong leadership experience in leading multicultural teams
  • Demonstrated expertise across a broad range of drilling engineering activities, including casing and wellhead recovery, and good understanding of completions and interventions, and well barrier design.
  • Proficiency in Managed Pressure Drilling techniques and applications.
  • Strong understanding and practical experience with the common process for wells activation.
  • Proven track record in Management of Change processes and their application in drilling operations.
  • Experience with monitoring and maintenance programs for drilling equipment and systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of rig and vessel intake and startup procedures, as well as ongoing operations.
  • Excellent understanding and application of Risk Management principles in a drilling context.
  • Experience with side-track operations and their associated engineering challenges.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and improve Supplier Performance Management.
  • Familiarity with surface wellheads and xmas tree systems.
  • Expertise in tubular handling and installation procedures.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Well Control principles, regulations, and emergency response.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.

Education:

Bachelor of Science/ Engineering degree or equivalent technical degree

Well Control for Subsea and Surface Supervisory Level to Industry Accreditation for example (IADC, IWCF or equivalent)

Desirable criteria:

Master's degree or equivalent
