Activities

This is a skilled position responsible for the overall technical development and execution of wind energy projects, with a focus on the wind turbine aspects. It includes feasibility and front-end engineering studies, site studies, preliminary design and design specifications in contracts and procurement.

Key responsibilities:

• Responsible for the general day-to-day technical project management of the relevant Projects.
• Prepare technical BOP and TSIA contractual schedules, and participate in negotiations with contractors
• Assisting negotiation and finalization of supply, installation & service contracts (commercial, technical and legal aspects, latter in conjunction with legal teams)
• Leading technical interfaces between the various work packages (finance, legal, technical, permitting, grid connection, etc.) necessary to fully develop the Projects.
• Lead the consideration of technical options of the projects, identifies optimal solutions from a technical, commercial and execution perspective at early stage including civil, mechanical, and electrical aspects of wind plants, interconnection and high-voltage design and yield assessments.
• Assisting review of technical and commercial analysis of proposals, recommendation for the selection of the supplier and model
• Ensuring technical compliance with Project documents during execution.
• Coordinating the procurement process of contractors to perform services under the relevant EPC and O&M agreements.
• Coordinating and managing the procurement of technical advisors (owner's engineer, etc.).
• Lead the interface with owner's engineer (OE),sponsors legal advisors and lenders legal and technical advisors (LLA & LTA and internal technical advisors), contractors, Lenders, etc. during financial close process and construction.
• Optimisation of design and pricing parameters.
• Manage the detailed design review process(TSI and BOP)(in consultation with the OE)
• Provide technical input for financial close of successfully awarded projects.
• Maintaining the project time schedule.
• Meeting tight deadlines and keeping within budget.
• Technical, contractual, and operational management of wind turbine supply, installation and service contracts
• Prepare management presentations and generate periodic reports with the progress status of the company's projects.
• Technological & commercial horizon scanning of wind OEMs/products
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives via market intelligence and LCOE reduction initiatives
• Monitor the installation of the wind farms in collaboration with the construction teams, verification of the proper application of the supply and installation contracts in the field and follow-up of inspection and test procedures
• Monitor on-site commissioning of wind turbines and SCADA
• Technical coordination with asset management teams
• Participation in the improvement of procedures
• Such other duties that may be required from time to time within the general scope of the position.
• The role description should develop along with the changing demands of the projects' objectives and priorities.
• Lead coordinator of Wind Turbine Power Performance Measurement campaign (Obstacle and Terrain Assessment, met mast procurement, mast calibration, etc.)
• Identify technical studies to be done, define the scope and lead the review of the reports
• Manage the TSIA and BOP interface related to Warranted Information, Key Milestones and overall scope responsibility (during negotiations and execution stage)

Candidate Profile

• BEng/BSc/BS(Mechanical, Mechatronic,Electrical)

• 5+ years' experience in thewindenergy environment.
• Strong understanding ofturbine supply and installationEPC and O&M agreements, experience with split wind farm contracts is preferred.
• Experienced in contractnegotiation
• Awareness and understanding of the relevant technical codes, regulations and standards relating to the development of renewable energy projects in South Africa.
• Ability to balance and prioritize multiple, complex tasks.
• Ability to analyze , manage and present data
• Attention to detail required
• Expertise in performance testing of wind energy projects
• Requires an organised approach to working, task prioritisation and time management.
• Commercial mindset and experience with optimizing overall business from a technical design and execution perspective
• Take ownership of meeting deadlines and drive tasks to completion.
• Strong initiative and the ability to proactively identify required tasks.
• Able to work independently and in groups
• Excellent interpersonal skills that establish and promote effective relationships
• Proficient in MicrosoftWord, Powerpoint
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Interest inrenewableenergyprojects
• Proficientin English
• Willingness to traveland spend time on site
• At ease with working at heights
• A valid Driver's license
