About the Role
NOV is seeking a Site Instrumentation Engineer to support onshore pre-commissioning activities in Stord, followed by offshore commissioning work in Norway on the same process units. This role ensures technical continuity from pre-commissioning through offshore commissioning, enabling strong system knowledge, efficient fault-finding, and safe start-up.
The successful candidate will be part of a dedicated NOV site team, operating on rotation and supported by back-office instrumentation, control, and project engineering resources. This is a hands-on field-based role requiring technical ownership across both project phases.
Location:
Onshore: Stord, Norway (Pre-Commissioning)
Offshore: Norway (Commissioning on the same units)
Rotation:
Onshore (Stord): 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off
Offshore (Norway): 2 weeks on / 4 weeks off

- Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary NOV site team
- Perform inspection, testing, and verification of instrumentation and control systems
- Support loop checks, calibration, and functional testing
- Commission and start-up instrumentation associated with:
- Seawater treatment units
- Gas dehydration units
- Interface with control systems, automation, and electrical disciplines as required
- Support system handover from construction to commissioning
- Troubleshoot instrumentation and control issues during commissioning
- Interface with vendors, offshore operations, and NOV back-office support
- Ensure compliance with NOV standards, NORSOK requirements, project specifications, and HSE regulations
- Produce and maintain pre-commissioning and commissioning documentation and reports
- Degree or technical qualification in Instrumentation, Control, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
- 2-3 years' experience in instrumentation engineering roles within oil & gas or energy projects
- Hands-on experience with instrumentation systems related to:
- Process units
- Seawater treatment systems
- Gas dehydration units
- Experience in pre-commissioning and/or commissioning activities
- Exposure to DCS/PLC systems and control interfaces is an advantage
- Offshore Norway experience is beneficial but not mandatory
- Strong practical understanding of instrumentation, control loops, and field devices
- Ability to maintain continuity and ownership across long-term project phases
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- High HSE awareness and safety-focused mindset
- Comfortable working with remote back-office engineering support
- Fluent in English; Norwegian language skills are beneficial but not required
- Seaman's Book preferred; assistance available if required
- Effective team player in rotational onshore and offshore environments
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interface across disciplines
- Proactive and self-motivated with a structured approach to work
- Adaptable to dynamic project environments and offshore conditions
