As part of the construction of a major FLNG unit in a South Korean shipyard, Technip Energies is looking for a VIE Mechanical Inspector to join the on‑site Quality team.
This role ensures mechanical installations, parts, and systems meet quality, safety, and design standards, often requiring a technical degree, some workshop experience (like pumps, fabrication), and skills in reporting, problem-solving, and using inspection tools, working under senior staff to check HVAC, piping, machinery, and construction projects for compliance. .
The assignment offers a unique opportunity to gain experience on a major offshore project in a multicultural environment.
Role Overview
As a Piping Inspector, you will participate in the inspection and quality control (QC) of the Projects piping systems, focusing on compliance with standards and project specifications through visual inspections, material verification, and documentation. This role often requires basic engineering knowledge and the development of skills in welding and non-destructive testing (NDT).
Responsibilities
Quality Department
The role of the Quality team (1 expatriate manager, 1 local manager, 5 local inspectors + 1 VIE) on site is to contribute to risk management to ensure that project equipment and materials are received complete, correct, and on time.
Risk management includes identifying, assessing, and prioritizing risk exposure. Testing and inspection are used to mitigate these risks, helping to ensure project quality and adherence to schedules.

- Perform visual inspections of piping installations to detect defects, alignment issues, and proper fit.
- Measure and verify pipe dimensions, welds, and joint integrity according to project specifications.
- Support documentation of inspection results, non-conformance reports, and inspection reports.
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and safety protocols.
- Coordinate with fabrication and construction teams to resolve quality issues.
- Participate in pre-inspection meetings and quality audits.
- Maintain organized records of inspection activities and test results.
- Assist senior inspectors in performing non-destructive testing (NDT) and other specialized inspections as required.
- Follow safety guidelines and promote a safe working environment.
- Education: High school diploma required; a degree or diploma in mechanical/industrial engineering is preferred.
- Knowledge: Understanding of piping materials, ASME codes, welding processes, and testing methods.
- Skills: Attention to detail, analytical mindset, good communication skills (English), problem-solving abilities, and the ability to read technical drawings.
